It really depends on where you live I suppose. I've met quite a few MTF girls here in Miami, FL. Actually depending on the day of the week and the particular club  "we" actually outnumber "them" on many nights. Which is cool.

I'm like friends with only 1 trans person and that is over facebook :/

I actually don't know any other trans people in person, the UK isn't that big, I really should try and look for some trans friends. . .

I didn't know any other transgender people when I came out in my day to day life, but since coming out, an FTM guy in my year at university who I was already friends with has also decided to transition. It's kind of strange for our department, as they've never had a transgender student before, and now suddenly they have two in one year. :) But it was very heartwarming for me to think that I might have helped him in some small way to come to terms with who he is.

I've considered joining LGBT support groups before, but I'm in the very fortunate position of having all my friends and family recognise me for who I am, and have lots of lovely cisgender female friends who are quite happy to treat me as one of the girls and who are very sympathetic to trans-related problems. So I don't particularly need to seek out support outside of my existing circle of friends. I would definitely be interested to meet other trans people (particularly other girls), but it's something that I'm content to leave up to chance.

I guess im kinda lucky living where i do, that its so easy to go to things like sparkle or just out to the village, but it was meeting my now-ex (were still friends) who helped me to go outside femmed up.  before that .. before that i was terrified of everything. now im still terrified at first, but i know i can do it.  with my ex to talk to .. its nice to have someone to discuss things with who gets it without all the explaining .
