vain hair rant

I considered putting this in an "asking for help" place, but it ended up being a snippy rant, so here it is.
I need a haircut. I have some ideas of what I want, but try explaining it to any hairdresser I've been to and they cut it exactly how they agreed not to.
I have also realized that, once again, my family will think I'm copying my sister. I'm not. I have no respect for my sister what-so-ever.
Anyway... Hair. I have wasted hours trying to find a picture of what I want. Nothing. I have asked for help to try and find a picture. Nothing.
Part of the problem is I don't actually know what I want, but guess how the pattern goes. I look. Nothing. I could ask, but I would probably get nothing.
My hair is currently longish in the back despite my many times trying to explain to a hairdresser that I want it cut shorter. It doesn't work. It goes poofy (which I hate) and looks stupid.
I like punky hair, but I need to look like a responsible parent which is difficult because so many people believe in the either/or nonsense and I'm probably already pushing it by being honest about the mad scientist/villain thing.
I've wanted a certain kind of bangs since high school and can't find a picture of what I want anywhere. I have no idea what I want to do with the back.
I also have to pick something that I(girl) is fine with as well as I(guy). Although, I have been mostly a guy, so guy hair is way preferred.
Actually, the closest pictures I've found are the one time Captain Kurotsuchi from Bleach is shown without his makeup and some fan art of the same guy. These ones:

I have no clue what to do. If I cut my hair short on the sides and back and leave it long on the top, can I make it look similar to the second picture? How could I get hair like the first picture and should I?
I can't exactly go in and show anime pictures to help the hairdresser get an idea since words are apparently lost on people. What can I do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Seriously, I'm getting desperate.

It looks kind of like a 'bowl' haircut to me. Long around but shaved in back. Especially the second picture.
If these are the closest you can find to what you want, just bring them in. Hairdressers have seen it all and with the popularity of anime lately, I'm sure others have brought in anime styles. Just tell them it's the closest you could find.

Thanks for the advice. I don't really want it long around. Just long in the front.

Oh! A shorter version of this was what I originally had in mind:

(with slightly different bangs and the ability to wear it down if I felt like it)
However, since my hair isn't naturally straight, bits end up poofing and/or or sticking out funny if I just wear it down. Also, despite me explaining to them what I wanted, they cut the upper back of my hair longer than the bottom back which keeps me from being able to spike it up. This haircut is probably too girly anyway.
I don't know what I want.
