Questions about FTM post op penis performance (please help me out!)

I'm curious to know how the post op penis would perform.  For starters, can it get hard on its own?  If an "erectile prosthesis" implant is used, would it be permanently erect?  Would it ever be capable of being soft/limp?  (I'm worried about it looking like a hard on through pants).

If the urethra is re-routed and extended, would you have normal bladder control?  You can also choose to have the urethra stay where it is, right?

During sex, how much sensation is there through the entire penis?  Would the head be the most sensitive, like in a biologically born male?

And my biggest question: Is the penis strong enough for anal sex?  Will that kind of tight tug and pull cause any problems?

Thank you to anyone who can answer these questions for me.  I just cannot find any information on any of these specific topics.

I posted this in the post op forum last night, but no one replied   :(

I can't answer all your questions but I will have a bash at a couple.

They use a pump to make the penis erect. You press in one of the balls to release a saline solution into the shaft when you want to get erect, and then do the same again to release the saline back into the sack when you want to be flaccid again.

You can keep the urethra where it is yes.

I'm not 100% sure about bladder control but I have seen documentarys featuring post op transmen and none of them mention having bladder control issues.

Thank you  :)  Do you know what the procedure is called with the saline pump?

I don't but I have come across this:

which seems very extensive and may have the answers to the rest of your questions...I've just given it a quick skim so can't say for sure :P

Most of the muscles involved in bladder control are right around the bladder itself, so extending the urethra shouldn't cause any problems in that area.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

A blah blog

For starters, can it get hard on its own?
Depends on your definition of "on its own" and which surgery. Meta produces an erection based on touch, or being turned on. If you have phallo with a pump and rod I guess it does get hard "on its own" since the pump is part of it (some people have said the pump is in the balls but I'm not sure).

If an "erectile prosthesis" implant is used, would it be permanently erect?
Not that I'm aware of.

If the urethra is re-routed and extended, would you have normal bladder control?
I believe it takes awhile to get used to, and usually you have a catheter in at first so you have time to get used to it. Your bladder is in the same place and generally has the same function. Some times (however) a urethral lengthening won't take. Not getting the lengthening will reduce the risk of complications and my friend opted for not having urethral lengthening.

During sex, how much sensation is there through the entire penis?
Depends on the surgery, and how long you're post-op. I would imagine that right after you wouldn't feel much. I believe (could be wrong) that with phallo most of the sensation is at the base, and with meta the sensation is the same as you would be before surgery.

Is the penis strong enough for anal sex?  Will that kind of tight tug and pull cause any problems?
Depends on how far post op, and the type of surgery. This I don't really know about that much.

A few others have already answered pretty well, and the andrology.co.uk online guide is very good (BUT outdated abit). Anyway, I thought Id chime in abit.
Im 10 days post op, I had my 1st stage pubic/abdominal phalloplasty with the London (andrology.co.uk) team. I havent had the urethral work done yet, or erectile device, but Ill say what I know.

Can it get hard on its own?
Metoidioplasty provides you with a penis (albeit pretty small) that can get unassisted erections, but more often than not, is not big enough for penetration.
For the phalloplasty, there are different type of prosthetics, the inflatable rods, which give you a firm erection and can go back to flaccid. This is by a pump in one of the testicles.
And much more uncommonly is the malleable rod, which is permanently quite firm, you just manipulate it into "hard" and "flaccid" positions.
Or you can opt out of having the device, and just use external things i.e a condom or two for extra rigidity.

Ive not heard of guys having any problems with bladder control. As others have said, your bladder is fine, its your urethra thats worked on,so Id imagine that youd still have the same control.

In terms of sensation, it depends on many things, the type of phallo you had (or if you had meta, then your sensation is probably going to be just as good as pre op),and the way your body heals.
Forearm phallos tend to give the best sensation, due to the various nerves being utilized.
Pubic phallos, I was warned, can end up insensate. At the moment, I actually have perfect sensation in the bottom 1/3 so far. It can actually tickle, it feels good. This surprised me that I have decent sensation so early on, but one of my nurses said that my young age, and being healthy and a non smoker, contributes to this.
My next op will probably involve nerve work, so they should generate more and better erotic sensation throughout the penis.
But many guys talk of how amazing their sensation is, theyre able to cum during sex with no problem.

I dont know how itd be for anal. Never done (or had the urge) for anal, so have no idea on what firmness that would be needed, but I think the erectile devices do get pretty firm!
