Oooookay, I finally plucked up the courage to post something here and, of course, it's really goofy.
I don't think this is the best recording, but I did laugh hard enough upon listening to get over my shyness and post it, so hopefully I'll get a better recording uploaded soon.
Anyway, I'd love some feedback.  My voice certainly isn't where I want it to be, although I seem to get by these days, I know there's still a looooonnngg way to go.
Thanks everyone.

I'm still laughing as I write this :D

Sounds like you have a really feminine voice and the resonance sounds totally female- plus you sound comfortable. Have you tried raising the pitch up a bit?

Thanks Jenny, actually I've been trying to lower it back down a little recently because I find I notice the flaws in my intonation more that way.  Perhaps I'll pitch a little higher for the next recording.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. Been lurking for like two months  :)

I would like some feedback about my voice and have two different samples. The first one is from today and the other that I think is way too high is from two months ago a few weeks after I started "practicing"

Todays try that I used while out - http://dirtyneeds.asuscomm.com/transition/audio/Voice0047.mp3

Early version http://dirtyneeds.asuscomm.com/transition/audio/Voice0029.mp3

Thanks

That makes perfect sense to me, I kind of did exactly the same thing recently. It was nice to hear your voice, I like it a lot as is! And I'll say it again, you sound really comfortable and happy. I just love your personality Rowan!!

I still haven't had the courage to post a sample here. Maybe in a few months when I am recovered from the voice surgery :)

Hey Jamie! It definitely sounds like you've made a great deal of progress. The first one sounds a lot better! Good for you :)

I think it's because I wasn't recording something to post here specifically.
I've been working really hard to make sure all my involuntary noises such as sneezes and hiccups and coughing etc. sound like thy're in the correct range for a cis girl, so I was only recording it for myself at the time.  When I listened back it just made me laugh so much I stopped being embarrassed and posted it.
Ok, you have to promise to make a recording of your normal speaking voice before surgery as I'm reeeeaaaly curious to know how the procedure works out!

The more recent one certainly sounds like you've made a great deal of improvement.  See if you can make a longer recording next time though as it's hard to give any helpful feedback on such a short sound byte.

Just go to soundcloud.com and sign up.  It's free, you just need an email address to use as your login.

It certainly sounds much better in the newer version than the older, but like it was said earlier, giving us a longer recording might help us give you better advice. Keep up the good work!

Hey everyone! I have been working on my voice diligently every day all day for the past 7 months. A few months ago you all told me I had done it, and found a good voice. Its true, and since then I have been passing well with it, but it has changed some. I also struggle with maintaining the same voice all day or between differen tpeople, espcially those who knew me prior to transition. I need to work on it more. But anyway I wanted to show you my voice as I am still insecure about it, and have two diffeent voices I would like critique on...let me know...thanks for being here and helping me!

It's really amazing to hear the progress. Your voice sounds sooo good now :)

Thanks for sharing and for the tips about resonance, I had not heard that one before.

Noah

wow thank you both! I really needed to hear that, its so hard to see one's self or hear one's self clearly...at least in my experience. Feeling very encouraged and happy, and I am glad you found those tips helpful they really changed my voice...x

I am really sure that the resonance is my biggest flaw, so I am trying to work on it and I am grateful for the tip :)

Anyway, here is one of my recordings from today: Zeda_29_April_2013
I have tried advice, but I cannot seem to figure it out :[ I am told that my cadence is what i really need to work on, but I have no clue how to go about that. I have tried many different approaches, but i cannot seem to get it right D:

Di - You sound fantastic in either voice.  As far as being able to keep it up all day, that's something that only time and continued use can help with.  I've been teaching some sewing lessons recently and after talking to someone constantly for four or five hours three days in a row, I can barely speak at all in any voice!   How do you do at volume?  Can you yell or talk loudly and not have your voice slip?

Zeda - I think you're sounding really good!  I can see where there's a little room for improvement but I think you pass just fine as you are right now.

I speak at my Job all day so its great practice. I can speak loudly in my new voice and its fine, but takes extra concentration. I have to "yell" out names at my job sometimes lol and I am So insecure then, it is very hard but actually given me great practice at maintaining the voice at all times even yelling. I think I'm beginning to understand how to hold it during all voice levels but still need much work

When I can pluck up the courage I think I'll yell at my voice recorder from across the room and maybe post that..

If it helps, I notice that my voice is consistently around 10 decibels louder in female mode compared to male mode. Then again, my guy voice is very quiet :P Maybe that is what I am doing wrong o__o
