is this any better? is it close to passing? https://soundcloud.com/anna-bolton-1/win-20141210-135515mp4

It's getting better but it's still somewhat nasally. Just work on getting rid of the nasalness & you'll practically be there :)

So I have recorded another recording. This is also in the morning like 10 minutes ago and I haven't done much (if any) talking today.

For comparison here's a link to one from a week ago. It was taken in the evening.

Do you all see any improvement or degradation in my voice? Any tips?

I'm already naturally soft spoken, so sorry if its too soft. I've been practicing since March and recently I've been trying to use it at school lately where I'm away from family and by understanding friends.

Sounding good JustaSeq. Better than when I last passed judgement upon it ( :P ). You have really improved greatly :)

Jewelxo you also sound great!

This is my latest recording. I decided to continue letting the pitch drop some. My sister has an equivalent pitch and she gets gendered female on her voice so whatevs. I think it sounds a lot more relaxed than my previous recordings a couple months or whatever it was back. Still feel anxious whenever I have to use it in front of people but I can do this voice without warmups pretty much. The first time I used it in front of a real person I crumbled hard under the pressure but luckily it was with someone cool and subsequent attempts also with people I know I have been able to do it. Opinions? Be honest please k thanks!

Wow, amazing progress Seras! Your tone has improved and definitely sounds more natural, and your pitch was/is fine. I think that you are dead on about where you need to work on resonance a bit still. I was actually thinking about your accent and at about the time you addressed it.

Definitely a female voice, but I totally understand wanting to go that much further with training.

Personally at this point, I have just implemented my training into my day to day talking instead of doing any exercises at home. Nobody has said anything about me sounding funny, although a coworker noticed my pitch was higher than it was at one point, she thought it was HRT :p

Thanks guys :)

Yea, I think I need to start just using my voice all the time regardless of presentation and who might hear but it just still feels so weird!

Hi everyone, here is my first post on this thread, still a ton of work to do but infinitely better than when I started ( I keep some recordings to track my progress ).

Thank You For any feedback you have to give me.

Hi Ellie, good work so far it sounds like to me. Some parts you sound quite good in other parts give it away as a voice in progress. I am not going to point out where because it is obvious but in certain parts you can hear your voice breaks. Anyway since you are on the right track it should be quite simple for you. Keep doing what you are doing and once you have strengthened your voice so that you can make a solid recording or even just a better one come back and ask for more feedback :)

If you go back you would be able to find plenty of recordings from me (amongst other people) that show me/them in a similar place so keep it up!

Hooray! It's 2015 :)

So I thought it would be cool to hear my voice today compared to when I first posted a sample to Susan's. Wow what a difference. Anyways, I think I want to start a new separate thread to post my weekly recordings I plan to do this year... I tried to do it regularly before, but I am really trying to be as dedicated to working on that as I can be, since it causes me so much stress to worry about if I sound like a man or woman.

Anyways here's my first recording of the year, Happy New Years :)

https://soundcloud.com/just-a-seq/northwind-1/s-IcdM3

And for easy comparison, here's my first post about my voice on Susan's still not that long ago even.

***Edit: Here's the like to the new tread I started to track my weekly progress.***

To be honest your voice sounds hoarse? Are you sick right now? Just wondering, NBD anyways, women have raspy voices sometimes. I would say that your voice sounds somewhere between androgynous and feminine in both tone and pitch (at least to my ear). Working on one's voice is very hard and takes time, dedication and patience to see progress. Recording has done wonders for me as far as seeing my progress along the way in measurable ways and being able to hear "flaws", for lack of a better word, in my voice. I even started a soundcloud account just to put recordings up weekly, which it is my plan to actually stick to this year :p

Hi, this is my first audio file. I read the following script:

"This email was sent because you joined the Red Robin Royalty Program online. Your email address will not be shared with anyone."

Male voice:

Attempted female voice:

I tried watching and imitating all the YouTube videos, but no luck for me. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the feedback :)

Seras, you are sounding really good, there is a huge improvement from your first post to now.

Justaseq, same as with Seras, plus it sounds like you have gained about 20 - 30 hz in pitch :) My speaking voice is normally kind of raspy, but even more so it is very nasally ( which drives me nuts, and is one of the main things I want to get rid of in my female voice ).

Jenpa, Here are the things that helped me out a lot with my voice. This is in no particular order and just what has helped me out.

Practicing the stuff from this page.
http://www.everythingspeech.com/articles/resonant-voice-therapy/

Also from various other sites, and posts
Having a slight smile when you speak

Try to speak from the tip of your nose ( it sounds odd but kind of what you want to shoot for ) you will feel the vibrations shift from your chest to to the roof of your moth and the front of your mouth.

Trying to keep your mouth a bit open as you speak
Adding breathiness to your speaking
Adding a bit of sing song when you speak, and not speaking in monotone, and ending sentences with a slight uplift in pitch.
Record yourself and keep recordings and notes so you know what you did to get the results. I started 2 months ago and I was getting really discouraged with my voice until I listened to my first recoding and the recordings from a month ago and saw how much improvement had taken place.

Practice ( of course )

Lastly - DO not overtax your voice, take it easy to start and work your way up, take a sip of water in between reading or practicing, do not let the vocal cords dry out. When they start to get tired or sore take a break until they are better.

I wonder if my voice made any progress on T?
http://vocaroo.com/i/s1VoqfhKyGOl

Unless you started out with a 100hz speaking voice then I would say you have made quite a bit of progress on your speaking voice :) I would not think that as a female voice in manner of speech or pitch.
  •

Seras

Damn Marcellow. Very dudely. Your there, trust me. Solid sub 100hz according to PRAAT with a flat pitchline.

Go to like the last 40 seconds.A lot of it is my man voice.I haven't practiced that is my first try with female voice.

belfast girl

Been working on my voice lately, an hour or two every other day roughly just when I get a chance. Think I've made some progress, especially the last day or two.

Here I am reading a few paragraphs of an article from the Guardian:

This is my natural voice

This is where I am now

I  know it's still miles away, but I think I'm slowly getting there. Speaking for long periods still isn't really an option. It gets a bit squeaky as the pitch goes up, which is pretty annoying, and I'm not sure how it sounds to anybody else in terms of resonance/inflection/intonation,etc. Any ideas on what I need to be doing to move things forward? Thoughts / tips very much appreciated!
