Been working on my voice lately, an hour or two every other day roughly just when I get a chance. Think I've made some progress, especially the last day or two.

Here I am reading a few paragraphs of an article from the Guardian:

This is my natural voice

This is where I am now

I  know it's still miles away, but I think I'm slowly getting there. Speaking for long periods still isn't really an option. It gets a bit squeaky as the pitch goes up, which is pretty annoying, and I'm not sure how it sounds to anybody else in terms of resonance/inflection/intonation,etc. Any ideas on what I need to be doing to move things forward? Thoughts / tips very much appreciated!

Pitch wise your fine, in fact bring a down just a little to make it sound more natural. You need to slow way down. You sound like you are rushing it and you need to articulate every syllable slowly. Cis women do this in there speech. You have lots of hills (up and down) in your voice and that is good and when you slow down and articulate with the hills it will give a more feminine voice. Because you were talking so fast and the echo in the room it was hard to get a good read on the resonance, but it wasn't bad from what I could tell. Hope this helps.

I'm VERY new to this, this website, and attempting to sound female. Actually, I've only been trying to sound female in private for the last two days. Still, I'd love feedback. I don't know much about audio terminology, but I'm assuming I'll have to learn at some point if I wanna get this right.

Well, I'm extremely new to this voice practicing. I'm not on any hormones yet (Which is probably evident, haha) but this is about as deep as I can make my voice while comfortable keeping it this way throughout a whole conversation. I think I still do some upward inflections here and there, especially when making jokes, so that probably doesn't help. Haha!

I hope to start talking to a speech therapist fairly soon, after I move back to the east coast next month.

So hi again. I have returned from the quest that is voice therapy. This is still a work in progress I have had just three appointments over three months.

You want to pull up your pitch by 20-40hz or so. Your current pitch is 175 according to my audio software which is just about in androgynous range but a bit higher would be useful. You also need to fix up your resonance. This is a hard thing to do. There is not really an easy way to explain it, but you need to feel the voice resonating in your mouth like below your nose.

170hz mean pitch so androgynous pitch. I think your inflections are not really overtly feminine. Even guys sometimes have an upward inflection when saying some things like jokes, I think... Anyway T should sort you right out. Check out Marcellow's clips over time!

It's been a little over a month of me practicing when I can, and I can hear myself just how bad I sounded on my first post. I am once again calling on the experts here. This one, I have a feeling will be much better than my last, but still not yet ythere

I apologise to be the bearer of bad news but I do not think your voice sounds all that much better. You are using the same mic and stuff? Your voice sounds a lot smaller, you need to be able to project I don't know if you can with the means by which you are attempting to feminise your voice. You also sound a lot more strained, you cannot be strained, speaking is meant to be easy. Of course you can sometimes resolve that with practice but not always, depending on a few things.

Don't be discouraged though. Voice is hard work. I worked mine by myself for over a year before going to a voice therapist and I still don't think I am there.

Oh wow Cindi your voice is fantastic sounding! :D 100% passable, and you sound very similar to someone I know, my godmother's sister.

Alright, here's my go at this

Perfect. I wouldn't know from just hearing this that you were anything but a natural woman. Very feminine. Did you do voice training or did it on your own like I did? Do you have a hard time holding it?

After much laziness and yeah being really busy, I had some time to record my voice. It has changed from my last recording but sounds way more natural. Anyways, feel free let me know if there is any place I could improve. Thanks!

PS- Here's the link to my vocal progress log so you can listen to my progress so far. I have found it helpful to listen to my voice as I fall into it and it evolves. Feel free to join me :)

Absolutely perfect, darling! You have absolutely NOTHING. To worry about. Have you had training or voice feminization surgery!

I did it on my own. Found a little guide online to try and follow. I had actually found it withing two nights of practice but it was fairly high. Spent a few months working on it with friends while i was part time. When i first started full time it was a little hard to hold it all day and I would always revert back to original voice in the morning but now its just the natural voice for me. I have to actually work a bit to try and get it back to original, Which I pretty much never do unless I'm joking around with friends.

I did have one voice therapist session but all that was for was just to check and see if there were any issues with voice and where about i was speaking at, which was right on average pitch for normal female. Also found out I probably have acid reflux which kinda sucks and makes my voice sound rougher than it should, but the food i'm supposed to stay away from is just tooooooo tatsty so i don't worry about it very much anymore :p

I only have done training. I watched a lot of YouTube videos on it and kind of just combined all the techniques I found. Last year I had a super crappy situation waiting for my food at a fast food place where a couple of teenagers where staring at me. I asked them is they had "eye problems" to which they responded "I was just trying to figure out if you were a female.". I told them I was, and they responded about my voice not sounding like a female so I was not and proceeded to talk out loud to each other while I sat next their booth and waited for my food. It drove me so insane being stuck waiting for my food and listening to them talk to me that at that point getting my fairly androgynous voice to be more feminine became a priority.

That was back in Novemberish of last year. Since then I have tried to actively work on my voice every day to perfect it. I have made a lot of progress since then but still think I can improve with more focus and training. Thanks for your feedback :)

This my 'female' speaking voice at the minute: http://vocaroo.com/i/s17qR69Wrf4W

I'm not confident in it at all, to me it sounds quite a lot like a man speaking in a higher pitch which is obviously a bit of an issue. Praat reckons my pitch is about 220 Hz, so I'm happy with that, but the overall sound of it isn't right to me. Any advice or anything would be massively appreciated, this is the single biggest thing that's holding me back from going full time. I've been referred for voice therapy, although that's yet to come through, so I'm hoping that'll maybe help with things, but in the mean time I've been trying to do at least an hour every day speaking out loud with it and any help is received with great gratitude!

Try lowering your voice by about one step. That's a full note down on the piano. Skip the black keys. Let's see what that souns like. Remember pitch isn't everything. However, with that said, I doubt you'll have any issues if you throw in a bit more inflection on some words. End some sentences as though they were questions, like the Irish dd. And it doesn't hurt to pause a bit here and there. Experiment and have fun!
