On arriving here, I was stuck in the highest level of Japanese classes the university offered due to my previous experience with the language. My classmates were all from places across Asia like China, Taiwan and South Korea, and all possessed scary levels of fluency. Most of them had lived here for at least two years. Some had been here for as long as five. I felt totally out of place, as while my reading was pretty good, my speaking was atrocious.

About ten weeks on, and not only has my speaking improved exponentially, but I got my first midterm back today - 49/50! :D Sometimes it's not bad to push your limits a little. ^^

Atta Girl Elenor! Nothing better than a can-do attitude when you're working hard on a bell shaped learning curve!

I can't pass at all and am aware of this. However, since university started, I have gotten a few "sirs" and other references to me being male (by people who don't know I'm trans). Today, someone called me "sir" even after hearing my voice.

Ever since finding out that this guy is Elmo, no voice surprises me.

That's the way it always works Edge because those that know you are trans will always conjure up the "before" person in their minds, but those who don't know will really give you your best assessment as to whether or not you pass by how they address you, that's why so many post-ops search out a new job elsewhere, move to a different city, dump all the old friends and start fresh. Sometimes it proves to be difficult if not impossible.

I had to take my new car to the dealer for an oil change and surprisingly it was only $25!

Actually, the people who know I'm trans are pretty good about calling me by my preferred name and the right pronouns. My mom slips often, but that's to be expected since she's known me the longest, but most other people are fine.

I was playing around with my makeup last night and got it looking really good. So, I decided not to waste it and went to the bar. I am so glad I did. I was getting hit on so much. At one point, there were two really good looking guys were competing for my attention. One on each side. The guy that one my attention is one I met last Friday night. He was playing pool when I decided to leave. He left his game and walked me to my car. It was a really good night.

My voice can't reach the same heights as before! ;D
My normal, talking voice hasn't changed but it's very welcome to notice something is happening. :D

Happy = no more mustache. Sad = I have to do that area one more time, but she says it won't be as bad the next time.

Ok, I have an idea. Your first present would be whatever you bought, and your second present would be to open it early.  ;)

I have a friend who does oil changes, from what I have seen, its a surprisingly easy process, its just a matter of knowing what to do, wanting to do it, and having the tools necesary ( as far as I know, a jack, and something to pour the old oil in and somewhere to take it!) Its probably more complicated than I make it sound, but not very!

Normally I would DIY it, but with the new car the filter is a huge pain to get to. I figured out the cost and its actually cheaper going to the dealer than DIY.

Having fun doing decorations and the tree, was nice to see how long my hair is getting in this pic from last night :)

One of the senior managers at work from a different department just walked by my cube, stopped and said " my god Brooke! You look amazing! Wow! Great job!" This is the first time he has seen me since I came out. He is also the first guy at work to actually comment on my appearance. I have a huge smile on my face now.  ;D ;D ;D
