Anyone whose been on a low dose of t for an extended period of time want to share their experiences as far as genital growth? I hear that a the majority of growth happens in the first couple months of being on t for people on an average dose. I'm hoping that won't be true for me and that if I go on a higher dose at some point I'll still get the same growth I would have otherwise. Do you think it would still be possible to achieve the same level of growth (albet over a longer period of time) without increasing my dose? I get horrible insomnia on a regular dose.

I was automatically put on half of what the average dose seems to be. It was like this for a few months before I was finally able to up it.
However, I noticed genital growth within the first few days. It was the first physical change, and the growth I experienced was definitely not below average.
So, try not to worry, Im sure itll all be fine :)

I think it is the most consistent of permanent changes. Even on VERY low dose. I am following several people on low dose on facebook, tumbler, etc.

My understanding generally about low dose is that you will eventually get everything you would have gotten on a higher dose-- hair, voice, etc. but it will take a LOT longer. It might take several years, but eventually you would be read as male.

I was only a very low dose for the first 3 month; about a fourth of what people take on average. I experience significant lower growth within those 3 months, but everyone is different.

ie: There's this guy on youtube who was on the same dose that I was and he had a nice beard/sideburns going on by the time he was at 6 months. I'm 10 and some days on a dose higher than his and I have the faintest of beards.

This is a very good question. i would like to add something, if i may. Many of the posters here are not too terribly far from actually puberty - meaning they are young. Does anyone know, such as you JJ, if downstairs growth is affected by starting T later in life?

I am assuming you are referring to me, being a self-IDed older FtM, as opposed to one of the other zillion JJs. :) One thing I haven't heard about. Not a lot of older youtubers will vlog about this as it might be embarrassing. My understanding though, generally, is that any change that you get thru T is the same for older guys but that at a certain point the changes happen more slowly (particularly true for post menopausal). All the guys I have seen clearly present as male including those who started T in their 50s-60s-- so no reason to think all the changes wouldn't be there. Even facial shape changes so that might be significant here.

I started T a bit later in life and have enjoyed a LOT of growth downstairs (!!)

I had started on Androderm and had growth what seemed like immediately. 3 years in now and having been on injections for most of those 3 years, and growth continues...

I was not talking about anyone in general. I just noticed that two two posted who were on lower doses of T looked about early 20, i.e. still technically growing (at least in height). I didn't know if the more removed from that time frame would effect growth of other areas as well. I was also thinking that as we age, we lose muscle mass. How does that effect the musculature of someone who starts late? Yes, T does bring on "adolescent puberty', but on a body that, if you look at say me, has already reached middle age?

I wish i could have done this when I was 18 or 20. i didn't even know it exsisted back then. I knew of males transitioning to females - I bought Renee Richard's book as soon as it came out. There was just much more limited info on things going the other way.

Don't worry about it, Henry. I responded on this thread.

You won't gain stature that's for sure--that's bone growth. I am guessing there is an upper limit on bone growth that is perhaps in the 20s sometime. But other stuff grows and changes all the time, we have skin and cells that grow and you can, of course, "grow" in weight.

I know a guy who just started T and is maybe about 58. I have not asked re: about his downstairs growth. :) OTOH, he showed his driver's license from several months ago, quite a big change in facial shape and has gotten more muscular.

(Actually probably helps the bones, in older people, just as estrogen does.) One reason you lose muscle mass and so on is due to lack of hormones, I think. I would gather that this would be less in someone over 45 or so. Do I know for sure, no?? But it is logical.

There is some genital growth on testosterone, but it is NOT the primary hormone for penile development in fetuses OR adults. DHT is the chemical responsible for that, so if you want a bigger package you're going to have to talk to your doctor about helping you get DHT. There aren't any compounding facilities in North America that I know about, but you can get it for 90 euros in England. I am in the USA and I am on it. Just make sure your doctor doesn't try and raise the rates for you there, as that'd be unfair.
Was falsely diagnosed as a female-to-male transsexual.
I'm just a cisgender female picking up the pieces.
