I have actually had the numbing cream on all my sessions but one and I think it does help some. I had started with such a thick beard, both in density and size of each hair that the first few times were nearly unbearable. It's actually kinda funny because my tech will actually cringe more then me sometimes. The upper lip and goatee / muzzle area have been the hardest to knock out, so last time she numbed me up and attempted a lower intensity and longer time, it still hurt like hell either way. But other then that area nearly everything else has been cleared off. I had one tech say numbing helps, while another said it hinders, I just know the one time I had a different tech and she didn't numb me I was in so much pain my knees were shaking, I started sweating and could barely stand for a few min after the session. It was just really, really intense. How some say it's pain free is beyond me, and I do have a pretty decent tolerance for pain. But I guess it all comes down to hair thickness and personal preference. If you can take it without, then you can get in and out faster, but if they're not charging you and you have the time then I say go for it. Best wishes!
