I came out to my mom today and had a real long discussion about it. She thinks I should wait till I'm in my 20s to go through with it. I don't disagree but I was a little discouraged by her questioning.
I'm happy I did it :)

How is she feeling about all of this? You look to be a teenager, you might want to show her some examples of parents working with their kids to transition. There have been transgender teens/kids on Dr. Phil and Anderson Cooper and a few other shows.

Maybe get a doctor to talk with you and your mom now?

Awesome. What a big relief that has to be. It sounds like she's mainly supportive with reservations and fears. Not bad (it sounds like) for one day. I'm older, and, it's funny; I felt much more like I had come out when I finally told me parents than I did when I told my wife.  How you handle or humor her resistance is up to you, but I have found throughout my life that I don't have to win an argument; I just continue doing what I need to do. Anyway, Congratulations!

I remember the days I got in trouble for putting my age when I wasnt 18 yet haha. Hmm only going to start in your twenties, I must say that sounds hard.

None the less good job and I hope it ends up staying like that.
Awww no my little kitten gif site is gone :( sad.

Thanks! Hopefully she stays supportive although she is quite nvolved with the church. From a religious standpoint she doesn't agree but on a family supportive level she does.

if you plan on going to collage
that would be a perfect time to start changing

no matter if you aren't in you twenties yet
thats what im going to do
since i have a less supporting mother than you have

I wanted to go to college originally, but then I just became extremely turned off to the idea. I'm not sure what job i plan on having while changing but after everything is done I want to get on with a fire department

You're going to be a fire fighter now? I'm actually glad to hear that. I didn't want to discourage you but I remember you saying you were going into the military and all I could think was "ack". I remember two of my cousins used to volunteer at a fire dept in their teens. You might be able to do something like that to get some experience and a foot in the door.

Looking at your picture I don't think transition would be such a shocker to those around you. You already pass. As far as waiting until you're in your twenties I'd say that is your choice...as long as you are on your own. If you're under your mom's roof that will make things difficult.

Then again if you do decide to attend college there are some that are really trans friendly. Then you could get your education and transition while having a roof over your head that isn't dictated by someone else.

Coming out to one's parents isn't easy regardless of one's age. I was 41 when I came out and it gave me the heebie-jeebies.

Congratulations and good luck with the fire department!

Here's an important reminder about Age and the forums:

Quote from: Fat Admin on July 10, 2009, 06:12:01 PM
Minors are discouraged from posting their ages on the public forums and any posts referencing the age of a minor user (under 18) will be edited out. This goes for personal profiles as well.
Please take this into consideration when asking someone's age.
Thank you.

Thanks for the reminder Devlyn:)
@Constnce it wasn't easy that's for sure, thank you!
@simon I still do plan on joining the military, I enlist this year haha. I wanted to be a fire fighter as well because I just have that will to save. I would join the coast guard and become a rescue swimmer if transgendered were allowed.

Connor, yay! That's great, I'm proud of you.  That is so great that she'll support you just because you're her son :) plus by the time you get out of the military you'll be 21/22 right?...so perfect timing! Congrats

I was wanting to join the military
but they still dont accept trans people
so they would just kick me out as soon as they found out that I was trans
but I seems like that rule is coming to an end
the question is when
