Alright. I've gathered the courage to finally go out. I changed the angle of my hat a little, and this is my third day trying out eyeliner, and I'm feeling confident I won't get any "wtf is that" stares. So passing, am I?

I think you could do with filling your eyebrows in, making your eyeliner more dramatic, adding some eyeshadow, and using a darker foundation on your nose so that it blends in with the bottom of your brow ridge a bit more, because with the lighting you're in right now, the brow ridge is quite prominent. Other than that, you look great! You don't need to follow my suggestions, but they might help. :)

Unfortunately, eyeliner is the only makeup I have right now. But I'll take those suggestions when I get more. :)

Yeah I think with the right body language and attitude you would pass as is.. as long as I'm not seeing a beard shadow on your upper lip?

The eyeliner adds a nice subtle effect. But yeah as kyh mentioned you could go even more and it would probably look really good :) Eyeliner is magical. Eye shadow I usually reserve for special occasions and if you want to add a nice touch it would only help.

Body language and attitude are always some of the most important things, but with muted dark clothing you are really going to have to make sure there is no masculinity in your gate. The jacket looks like it might be pretty masculine, but it's hard to tell

Fill the brows out a little I'd say and maybe a little lipgloss?  You've got beautiful hair!  The way it is curling I know a couple girls that would KILL for that.

Yeah, there is a beard shadow. I haven't been able to afford laser at all yet. So I guess the consensus is no, I don't pass. I'll just wait until I can afford more makeup before I even try going out, I guess.

There are things you can do with makeup to completely cover up beard shadow.

And didn't Jenny already say you could pass if you had the mannerisms and voice down? I agree with her. Please don't be discouraged!

You're close, even just visibly. Don't give up!

Well I said as long as there is no beard shadow... cause it's a dead giveaway.

You'd be fine at night though, beard shadow is much less visible ;)

Just like... I dunno... rub some flour paste on your upper lip.. LOL... don't do that.

But seriously, it's not that much of a shadow and I bet you'd be fine at night- maybe under incandescent lighting too.

Oh, my mistake!

But if you can get a close shave, using makeup techniques one can completely hide their beard shadow. So I hope Toxicblue learns how to do that, it'll help her greatly.

Sadly that doesn't work for everyone. Me, even a not-so-close shave gives me a fair amount of trouble with ingrowns. I think it'd be hell if I was going to put on thick special concealers on that. Though if she has healthy pores, yes, that's absolutely possible.

Luckily after some laser I mostly have light hairs remaining, so the shadow is virtually invisible. I'm freaking looking forward to being completely done with laser and finishing everything off with electrolysis. I'm sick of having the underside of my chin and the areas below the corners of my mouth almost constantly plagued with ingrowns. I might actually have somewhat decent skin without that.

True, the one stipulation is that you must get a close shave where you can barely feel the hairs, otherwise using makeup on it will just look weird :P

Yeah, I have defective skin that just cannot be close shaven. Well, it can (assuming you manage not to cut it which is quite impressive), but just watch the ingrowns eeeeverywhere the next day.

Since starting HRT I can get those closed shave possible and I can not feel any hair and it feels completely smooth. In the next couple weeks to a month or so I am going to start laser so I can't wait for that. Within a session or two I doubt I will have anymore beard shadow ever again!

I find if I shave while showering I can get a closer shave then if my face is dry or just damp, also the only reason I haven't started laser yet is i do not know the cost or any place near that does it. The closest I found was a beauty shop and ironically I do not feel ready to go to one yet. Also last time I was there it was to get a brow piercing which didn't work out. My body hates piercings as it rejected an ear piercing when I was younger and I followed all the care tips then and now.

On the beard shadow thing I always felt like maybe I was weird but... I just plucked it since going FT? Problem solved for me... no shadow.

I never got the change to laser it though, now I only grow a a handful of dark hairs.

Do you use any special tweezers?  I tried doing it with my generic ones, but it was painful and ineffective, to say the least.

I've tried a variety of tweezers but surprisingly have had the best luck with the small tweezers from my Swiss Army knife, they work great

The tweezers are on the gray pull out next to the key ring thingy

I also use a magnifying mirror so I can can see the hairs well

I always plucked my lip before HRT and transitioning as I hated shaving. One college friend noticed how I could only grow "bum fluff", trying to be disparaging. God that was awkward.

Hey!  A nice close shave will hold you for several hours.  Kiddo, you are doing fine!

I posted that picture just after a nice close shave.

Yeah I can shave real close and within an hour the shadow is starting to show already but mainly on my upper lip and chin.
