I found out last night that the videogame giant that is EA has hosted an LGBT event on the 7th of March 2013:

EA will be joining with the HRC and Ford Foundation to host an event on Thursday, March 7 in New York to discuss LGBT issues in videogames. Whether it has been taking a stand against DOMA, introducing same gender romance in our games, or participating in Pride events in our communities it seems we've always been met with some opposition and hateful comments. It got us thinking here that it was time to bring people together to talk about these issues and not sweep them under the rug.

EA Full Spectrum will bring together leaders from the LGBT and videogame community to talk about the state of hate in videogames, the origins of homophobia in games, the development of authentic LGBT characters and whether our industry is doing enough to combat hate.

For more details here is the link: http://www.ea.com/news/ea-hosts-lgbt-full-spectrum-event

If you want to see some of the attitudes of the gaming community then check out the comments on this link to C&VG, the comments section is full of narrow minded opinions from gamers about LGBT issues, in particular there are some very narrow minded views about Trans people

If any gamers want to wade in to these comments then feel free, i've certainly put my opinion out there, i'm Xbox Jayne in case you didn't guess

Now, if only EA can get their Sims 5 servers up and running, THAT would be progress.

That was a mighty fine rant there Jayne. Looks like you could possibly have a gay transphobe arguing with you there; they sound like they're very keen to distance themsevles from trans people because they think we delegitimise 'their' cause.

Meanwhile, here I am... gay, trans and a gamer. Ah well.. ;)

People with views like that delegitimise me. They created a hostile environment in which it was more difficult for me to transition.
