AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

I hate this flipping ringing in my ears!  Can't sleep so well, can't get a moments peace.  Yeah I played my guitar but I bought new speakers to avoid aggravating my condition.  Volume wasn't that loud an I didn't play that long.  Yet the "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" is strong in my right ear!  For two days now.

Had tinnitus for over a decade now.  I just hate these times when it gets worse.

Wish me luck at work today.  I'm going to need it.

Sometimes I blog things

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

You have my commiserations, I've had this too since a virus in the 90's. Some food makes it worse (sugar, salt, chili). I get "fax machine" warbles, and whistles. The only really useful thing the docs ever drew my attention to was that it gets louder when I pay attention to it, quieter when I don't.

By the way, I like your Notable Dates sig thing :).

I do hope working today will make me forget about it.

I have four medals designed so far.  Once I get more and polish up the editor I want to release it for others to use.  The medal design part is just a bit daunting at the moment.  I'd like like 20 or so to start.

Aargh, I have it too, have had it for about 15 years after playing in bands for 25 or so years. I feel for ya! I wish I had some answers, but unfortunately I don't. Only sympathy  :(

Oh, and GOOD LUCK!

Can somebody get the phone???!  :D

Good luck at work. I hear ya (!) when it comes to tinnitus, I've had it for a good year while on and off now although it's nowhere as bad as it used to be (constant and deafening in a sense, my sleeping problems were at the worst t

I have persistent tinnitus in both ears, coupled with hearing loss.

I first got it at a Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers show around 2002 or so.  For all the, "If you could go back and change one thing" threads that pop-up, I think if I could go back I'd go jam earplugs in my head that night and leave my transition alone.

Thanks everyone, I made it with only having my attention called over to it a couple of times.  And good luck back to all of you dealing with it too.

My ears started ringing in 1997 after a bout of a summer cold.  My Dr. at the time thinks it started on the aircraft carrier I was on in the early 1970's.  The damage in the Cochlea is realized usually 12 or more years after the damage from loud noises.  This usually takes a trigger such as a virus or more repeated loud noises.  I was a dumb kid that sometimes went around spooling jet engines without ear protection.

I had constant tinnitus (24/7) for seven years while on Wellbutrin for my depression. When I stopped the meds, the tinnitus went away.

Mostly. I still get it in the right ear sometimes now. It gets worse when I'm short on sleep. It gets better when I clear my ears. Have you guys ever tried that?

Kia Ora Fellow tinnitus sufferers,

I have had tinnitus in both ears for a couple of years, and over the last couple of months it's got very intense, I can hardly hear out of my right ear-just the constant riiiiiinnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg...I use it as a built in meditation tool...

I've also found "White Noise" can be a good distraction... Somebody in another thread [I think it was Jill=Spacial] mentioned some device like an hearing aid that emits white noise, might be a thing to look into...

For some strange reason I don't have a problem with sleeping...

However, this link is a 10 hour white noise sound for those who are finding it hard to get to sleep...

Cleaning them was the first thing I did to try and deal with it.  Two nights ago wasn't bad then last night was rough again.

I sleep with a fan on and that helps some.  I used to have a better one that made more noise, but it died.

I've had 'ringing' in my ears for several years also, most of the time it's fairly low level and tolerable (maybe I've just gotten use to it?) But other times it's insanely loud and irritating, accompanied with the screaming 'fax machine' sounds Padma mentioned  :-\   I also compare it to the sound that comes with the pressure of deep water diving

It often does effect my sleep and also my ability to concentrate at times  :-\   Unfortunately, I haven't really found much of anything that helps and so I just do my best to deal with it

I remember the Who documentary The Kids are Alright. Well worth getting hold of for any aspiring musos.  The is a hilarious scene where Pete Townshend goes to the ENT specialist about his tinnitus.  the specialist, not knowing who Townshend was advised him to stay away from loud noises. (at the time The Who held the record as the loudest rock band)!

Seriously though, if you are a musician who suffers from tinnitus, by some noise reducing ear protectors.  These are relatively cheap, you can still hear well but the damaging wavelengths are blocked.

I've been getting it for a couple of weeks now since I started anti-depressants (Sertraline) & it's doing my head in, I don't know how you've all dealt with it for years without going insane?
