Joe.

I'm pondering over names a lot lately. I'm sticking with Joey for now, but what names are there that you guys like? I figure the more guys names I know, the easier it is to choose from. I'm gonna kind of try and narrow it down to 5 and then discuss them with my parents. If you guys could list names you like or know that would be really helpful. Thanks in advance.

Check out babynames.com or other sites like that.

I like really old names (like, for girls, I love Eunice and Agnes) and I've been told I have bad taste in names, so you'll probably hate all of mine. From what I can remember, I was thinking of (before choosing Henry David):

Oliver
Rami
Miantonomoh
Banquo (I like Macbeth  ;D)
Sean
Michael Collins (because he's awesome, unfortuately I have a brother, a cousin, and an uncle named Michael)
Mandeep

Best tip I heard was to Google the most common names from the decade you were born in or around, and go from there. (I didn't follow it because I had already picked a name. Lucas wasn't anywhere popular in the 80's haha, but it's technically considered 'biblical' because of 'Luke' so I get away with it :)) Look in books you like too, characters you naturally act like. Most times authors put a ton of thought into a name so it mimes the character, or says something about the character.

Also, luck doesn't hurt ;) So good luck!
What the hell was that?!                 From every wound there is a scar,
Spaceball 1.                                     and every scar tells a story.
*gasp* They've gone to plaid!        A story that says,
                                                        "I survived."

Lucas is a cool name- liked it because of the MOTHER series and I have an awesome friend with that name too. Jacob and Zach are nice names too, but hey, so is Joey.

I'm also partial to Dylan and Ethan and Caleb, just to throw more suggestions out there.

You can have my names: Erik Joshua. When I was young, my parents called me Joshua or Josh. God, how I hated Josh. It was easier to force them to call me by my first name than to stop them from shortening it.

I like the name Joey myself because every Joe i've known had been laid back & cool, also one of my heroes is Joe Strazynski the creator of B5.
I also think Matt is a cool name for much the same reason, every Matt i've known has been a nice person.

When you find the right name you'll know you've found it cause it will feel just right like a comfy pair of shoes

When we were expecting our second child we didn't want to know its sex until it was born... and if our child had been born physically male I wanted to name him 'Alexander Michael' because I like those names. Hubby either wanted Peter (his dad's name, meh) or... drumroll, please... Jean-Luc. Yup, as in Picard. Luckily for her, she was FAAB. ;)

I was watching ST:TNG last night on SyFy and my youngest daughter was complaining about how nerdy it was... so I told her she was lucky to be a girl, otherwise her Dad would've named her Jean-Luc. She thought I was kidding but Hubby confirmed that it's absolutely true. So she dodged a bullet there, but she did say she wouldn't have minded 'Luke'. ;)

Since our surname starts with an 'F', I was joking that if we had a son I'd name him 'William Tiberius F...' as a Star Trek homage, and so that his initials would be WTF. ;)

I also know someone named 'Myles Dax' because his dad is just as sad a Trekkie as I am. :)

But in all seriousness... picking a name takes a long time and you can change it again if it doesn't quite fit. I tried all those baby name sites & apps but in the end I settled on using my grandfathers' names as that was what my parents had originally planned to name me.

It could have been worse such as Quark or Worf!!

Of all the Star Trek names, she seemed to think the worst one was Wesley. ;)

Incidentally, the episode we watched last night was one with Andreas Katsulas as Commander Tomalak... which made me think of you.

Adam (previous name of mine)
Matthew (what I would have been called if I had been born right and considered)
Alec (another previous name briefly)
Luke (my middle name)
Jack
George
Jacob
Josh
Rob

I also agree with whoever said to look at names that were popular in the year you were born. I didn't, but luckily all the names in chose were high up then. There are some people born with crazy names but it helps us to blend in and feels more natural to me.

Now there's a fantastic name Andreas, it has a ring to it that brings to mind a person with dignity, respect & a certain regal bearing.

I like old or European names but sometimes they draw too much attention. Anyways these are my top names (excluding my own)

1. Sam
2. Oliver
3. Gareth
4. Sasha
5. Lewis (European pronunciation, Louie)

In any case take your time finding the right name for you! I realized after changing my name I would have liked Sam as well but i've already paid for and changed everything. That's ok though, I still like Sebastian a lot so I can deal, but I feel maybe I should have taken a bit more time deciding.

When I started researching for mine, I dug through the pile of different countries my family came from and decided that since I'm more Irish than anything else, both of my new names would match my last name and be Irish/Celtic. My family tends to choose odd names anyway, so mine won't stick out too much. I also got tired of having really common female names so I chose new ones that are a little harder to find. I guess my advice would be to choose new names you like that correct any issues you had with your previous names.
I did my waiting! Twelve years of it! In [my head!] Azkaban!
