When we were expecting our second child we didn't want to know its sex until it was born... and if our child had been born physically male I wanted to name him 'Alexander Michael' because I like those names. Hubby either wanted Peter (his dad's name, meh) or... drumroll, please...
Jean-Luc. Yup, as in Picard. Luckily for her, she was FAAB.

I was watching ST:TNG last night on SyFy and my youngest daughter was complaining about how nerdy it was... so I told her she was lucky to be a girl, otherwise her Dad would've named her Jean-Luc. She thought I was kidding but Hubby confirmed that it's absolutely true. So she dodged a bullet there, but she did say she wouldn't have minded 'Luke'.

Since our surname starts with an 'F', I was joking that if we had a son I'd name him 'William Tiberius F...' as a Star Trek homage, and so that his initials would be WTF.

I also know someone named 'Myles Dax' because his dad is just as sad a Trekkie as I am.

But in all seriousness... picking a name takes a long time and you can change it again if it doesn't quite fit. I tried all those baby name sites & apps but in the end I settled on using my grandfathers' names as that was what my parents had originally planned to name me.
