@Joey. I feel like too much of the binder would be visible. Plus, it wouldn't look very good.

@Ketchup Packet I only started getting seen as male around the 2 year mark.

I have a cast and crew screening for a movie I worked on tomorrow and was thinking of wearing this outfit.  But I'm not sure if I can get away with a tucked shirt yet.  Are my hips too obviously female in these jeans?  Hip more obvious when I lean, can see it more in 2nd photo.

(to prove shirt is right size, lol)

P.S. Ignore messy hair.  Not going anywhere tonight so no reason to style it after shower and air drying it always results in much hilarity I can't tame :P

I can't really tell, because of your arms, but I will say that your shirt looks a little loose in the neck.

It's unbuttoned to be more casual.  This is an event where some will dress up and others will wear tshirts so I'm not going to button the top button.  I loosened the tie after the photo but couldn't be bothered setting up camera again lol.  The shirt is my actual size at neck (15").

Edit: changed pics but just quick snaps at mirror.

Ah. Makes sense.
Your hips do look a little curvy, but no more than a lot of cis males I've seen.

I made some voice clips for a different thread, hopefully it isn't cross-posting if I put them here. The first one came off as strained to someone so I tried making it higher in the second, but then that felt strained. D'oh >.<

What do you guys think?

I think your hips look ok but I would be worried about a lack of bulge in the front of form fitting jeans. If I wanted to wear tighter jeans and didn't have a packer I'd stuff some briefs with socks, lol.

You sound like a young guy :] I wouldn't continue with straining yourself.

Oh I always pack when I go out, just didn't bother for in house shots. I use a STP packer so I don't leave the house without it, but good pick up!

I think you perhaps do need to rest your voice and/or talk to a doctor. The 2nd clip you're just going a little too high you kinda belong inbetween I'd say. The only part that didn't sound so strained to me is toward the end of the 1st clip. The end of the first clip just screams to me that you're subconsciously lowering it and I don't think that'll be helping you with the problems you're having, especially since you said you had all those problems in the past with bad reflux. It's not just that up bit at the end, there is a background sound to your voice, again, I can't really pinpoint it to explain but it's exactly what I get when I deliberately alter my voice up or down.  I know you can't afford vocal coaching but maybe just relaxing a bit after you rest and try practicing speaking into recording device and/or singing. Find your natural range. You look young enough that your voice doesn't have to be that low so go easy on yourself. Relax a bit and find that middle ground where you're not straining your voice up or down.

I'm not accusing you of forcing your voice lower, I just think it's natural for us to want lower voices and we can end up subconsciously trying to make it so, to the point where we don't realise we're actually forcing it lower. It can happen to guys who start taking T and want their voices to get lower so badly that they kinda force a change before it actually occurs. Your first clip goes through a bit of a range and ends with you going up and then very promptly, like your brain realised it was getting too high for its liking, you jumped way back down again. You want to be at a place where your voice can stay at the same level from start to finish. Guys tend to have a more monotone drawl; affliction and level changes are more a feminine trait. It's better to be more monotone at your natural range than all over the place at a varied range.

Ah, I didn't think you were accusing me at all. I had no idea of it sounding strained to be lower, so I attempted to adjust it higher and seem to have overshot it. Between congestion, reflux, screaming matches (nope, you don't want to know), and way too much singing it'd make sense for my vocal cords to be especially shot about now so I'm going to try being nice to them now. Haven't properly known my range since my voice went from "really high soprano" to "hey wait why can I hit all these lower notes" to "wait why can't I hit all these high notes", during that point I didn't speak very much. So I'll just put a dorky "vocal rest" sign around my neck and give them a chance to heal up a bit, then try again. I just like fixing things  :P

Up until my lovely mother demanded that I sound "human" (read: magical Disney princess), I had a pretty nice monotone going on too. Damn!

Thanks, going to try not to lol

By the way, Jack, your hips look okay to me. They don't go straight down, but nor do the hips of every cis guy, either. Most will have a little of that going on when they tuck in a shirt. Without you packing the jeans threw me off just a bit, though you should be fine with them so long as you do pack.

Thanks. I used Just for Men Mustache and Beard. It comes in two tubes which you mix together. It's very simple to use (takes maybe 15 minutes including clean up and prep) and you would probably get many uses out of a package.  Just cap the tubes tightly. I used Light Brown.  I did NOT have any trouble with it dying my skin and my stache is very thin. If all you have is peach fuzz it wouldn't be recommended as it just dyes skin. I actually have hair growth, but it is very light, perhaps gray. You should wash your face after use. It would dye it if you don't remove right away. Someone told me he has to wash a few times, but I didn't have that trouble. He has very dark hair so that's maybe why. This friend of mine suggested to use a very small thin brush which I think is a good suggestion. It comes with a big thick brush which wouldn't work with a small stache like this.

Thanks for the info. I tried it but didn't really see any results. I think my hair might be too dark.

If it's a partly casual affair why not pull the fabric up just slightly so there's a little extra around where the waist is to de-emphasize the hips a bit? Not as bad as this guy, but just not so tucked in:

I think you look great, Jack. I do second Si's mention of packing, maybe put something in to make a slight bulge there. I also think since there will be people dressed casually you could get away with loosening up the shirt a little, just for your own comfort in terms of hips and such. But either way, you should be fine.

Thanks guys. I'll play around with it before I leave, get the best look poss.

Liminal Stranger, I actually think your voice sounds fine in the first one. It definitely passes, but like you said, it passes for a younger guy :)

What do you think about my voice? I feel like it sounds as if I'm talking through my nose in some parts?  :-\ I don't know tho, it sounded different on camera as it does on the computer now. Do I sound "stereotypically gay"? Please be honest! Any tips on how to speak in a more masculine way?

Sounds British. And male. No American would say you sound gay, as they already think anyone not from America is gay.
(PS, if your hair is light colored, you won't be getting much body hair anyway.)

You seem to have lost weight. You're masculanizing well. Maybe try some shoulder exercises though?
