@Caleb, somehow I thought you lived in the states. Are you a transplanted Canadian? I didn't realize you are Canadian. Where did you live or are living if okay to ask?

I'm forever surprised by the size of our Canadian contingent

I consider myself at least an honorary Canuck due to hearing this on the Canadian radio (only good music up in the eastern UP of Michigan):
"Mayhem in Canada! Two people have crashed their carts together in Canadian Tire, and can't stop saying sorry!"
And thinking that this sounded like me, reaffirmed by one of my Calgarian friends.
Hey, you've reached Lauren's signature! If you have any questions, want to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, leave me a message, and I'll get back to you.

I'm only a fake Yooper. Dad is, mom is not, and I was born in California while my dad was (and still is) in the military. My first time living in Michigan started 6 weeks ago when I moved in at State.

Such strong emotions, and you totally deserve them. I'm so happy for you, I'm tearing up.

(A looong time ago) I was visiting Taiwan for work and attempted Chinese for a while (Pimsleur). It didn't work - they just can't understand me. I can repeat back a pronunciation perfectly right after I hear it, but I couldn't figure out how to read a pronunciation from the travel books.

Japan I visited on my own (on the way home from Taiwan). I used to play "go" (a board game from ancient China and Japan) so I was learning Japanese for that. I got to know a decent amount and could do business stuff (asking for directions, etc) and read from a travel phrasebook. From all the Go books I learned a decent amount of Japanese characters (which *did* help in China). Japanese is a pretty logical language - at least on the surface.

As an aside, I think there was a proud & out trans woman who played go and interacted on those forums w/ me... I wonder where she is now.
I learned German before I ever learned English. Then I had to take French in high school. Later on, I crammed a 6 week Japanese course into 3 weeks and passed. Communication doesnt seem to be too hard for me.:p

Looking in the mirror, I am pretty certain I have the face shape now to be able to pull off the Major Motoko Kusanagi hairstyle. Which I have always wanted. Or Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. :)

Lately I get to spend more time being feminine, being me. This makes me feel very comfortable with myself. It makes me happy. Even if I must revert to drag I am really comforted by my self acceptance.
I love my gender, I love being a girl.
Thank you all for listening.
Ciara.
I don't have a gender issue.
I love being a girl.

just a little comment by a friend that means a lot to me.
i'm not out to anybody yet and i dont try to pass, but my normal behaviour is masculine enough for my friends to make funny statements about the possibility of me being male, and i value them a lot.
today there was a school concert and we went to watch it. as it was the school show we got up in the last item and started dancing to it and cheering as if it was a musical show. i've mentioned earlier that i get very diasphoric on dance floors, but it gets better when my friends are around, for the above reason.
so today it went well and i had fun, and on our way back to the class a friend who was not nearby to where we were dancing tapped me and teased me, 'so you danced with all the girls huh' i don't know if my translation got the right tone across, but she said it as if to a hot guy who'd get all the girls on the dance floor to dance with him. a tiny comment, yet it made my day!

I'm not entirely sure why, but I have been having a really great day.  Just feeling really at peace in my own skin and with who I am.

Great! Have a wonderful day!!

A came out to a friend on Friday, she'd already pretty much guessed from my mannerisms and being really open minded/into LBGT rights, and she phoned the doctors for me today and booked me an appointment. Not this Friday but the next I'll be taking the first major steps to sorting my life out at last.

Good going Alex, it's great to have someone who's able to give you the push in your life. Be sure to tell us all about your appointment. :)
