I have an excellent therapist in Western Michigan who is very knowledgeable in transgender issues.  let me know if you need a referral.

So I had my appointment with the therapist at U of M, and it honestly went really well. She and I both discussed where I may be on the gender spectrum, and agreed that I may not be binary. She challenged me to consider different transition options, and offered some ways to include my spouse based on my spouse's personality (which I never would have arrived at solo). We also discussed -- from a very high level -- what some timelines and milestones might be for transition, and possible areas of real concern for things I am considering. I found it helpful, and while HRT is not on the near horizon, I don't really feel an immediate need. I don't feel pressured by time. My main goal is to save my marriage and help my partner along the way as best I can, and along the way continue to expand how people see me by using alternative social and gender markers at a measured but deliberate pace.  My appointment was two hours, and I am following up in a couple of months for additional clinical work.

Several people here have told me "there is no right path, only your path", and I feel good that I am starting to create my own unique path. I am also planning to attend a support group locally this weekend, and have started to network with others in my area.  Good progress, even if this transition stuff is emotionally and physically draining.

Several years ago when my partner and I were struggling with my gender issues, I went to a therapist affiliated with the U of M Gender Clinic.  She confirmed my diagnosis as being transgendered in less than an hour and told me at that time that I would likely be accepted into the program.  of course, I am a Michigan alumna ;).

I'm glad to hear that you had a great therapy experience at U of M! It sounds as if you're off to a fantastic start! As indicated in previous posts, we have been really happy with our encounters with U of M. Granted, my spouse is not part of their counseling department but is part of the endocrinology department and plans to use their voice therapy services as well. We hope you continue to be happy with the U of M. It's too bad they're so far away.

Hi, I've been trying to contact Nancy for a month now with no luck at all.  I'm trying to schedule to see an endo, but Nancy just stopped replying to any messages I send her.  My therapist even sent a fax to her, but I still have no response.  The last time I heard from her via email 15 days ago, she asked me to give her times for the next week, so she could set aside that time to schedule with me, but she never got back to me that week. . . or the next.  I don't know what I'm supposed to do at this point.

Hi Snow Cookies. Not sure if you are still checking the thread, but I wonder if you have had any more luck? I know they are a really small office. It usually only took her a day or two to respond.  Good luck!

I'm not sure why it's taking so long, she could be sick or on vacation. They only have one person to handle all of the intakes and whatnot which has to be pretty hard. If you haven't heard back yet you could try calling and asking too. I can ask my therapist tuesday she is out there every week.
