I recently made my debut en femme at a neighbor's party. For my friends who were aware of my situation, this was completely expected. For those with less sophisticated views, a cover story was provided as not to question my attire or accessories and makeup. Strangely enough, this wall of support was initiated by a Knight of Sappho, a dear, sweet lesbian friend - a good foot shorter than me out of heels. She took it upon herself to make it clear, extreme bodily harm would occur to anyone who dared to harass me.

This was not the strangest thing to come from that night. The strangest thing occurred when I left my apartment for work,  only to see the neighbors throwing a birthday party.  One of the girls there remarked to me,  "I don't know what your name is, but you're alright in my book. It takes balls to wear heels like that!"

I didn't quite know at that what point to think, so I politely said "thank you" as I walked to my car. 'When did my life become something Camus would have enjoyed writing?!', I could not help but think to myself.
