No, even if I go a few days without giving him people food, he still does it. I think its the vegetable content of his doggy food as he's even worse when I've fed him dog food even higher in vegetables.   And he did eat a couple bowls of dog food today.

Depends on the person. Personally, I find it easy to be reached out to. I have met others though who struggle with it.

I struggle with it probably because I'm so shy and sometimes can't find the right words to say in replies.

Me too.

Even when I do reach out, I understate everything, all the time.  Sometimes I don't understate here on Susan's, but even in my 'get me out of here before I do the 's' word and die' last ditch letter to my mom all I wrote was something like, 'I'm more depressed than usual.'

I tend to understate myself at times as well.

Who said you shouldn't be a burden when you're feeling bad? and why did you go and believe them? friendship and love is about support! if there is no burden, no weight to support, what are you supporting? air?

Don't understate things, people will never go the extra five miles to find out what you really meant! They'll never assume you don't mean what you say unless you show clear signs of being dishonest. For your own good, please say things as they are! It's hard, but it will get easier if you get used to doing it...

Hopefully it wil get better as I get more confidence within myself.

I get what you're saying, but I actually meant from other side. Does this make more sense? Personally, when other people reach out to me about their problems, it's not a burden to me at all.
I also worry about being a burden and am shy. I am just a lot stupider when it comes to stopping myself which is a mistake because me and people don't get along.

That being said, I can take on other people's problems with relative ease. I move pretty naturally into the Frasier Crane "I'm listening" stance. sharing my problems with others? That's a skill I'm only recently making progress with.

I'm getting old. My eldest daughter is 21 years old and going out with her boyfriend ( who is ftm, which makes me happy too),  but she looks like she is going to a furry convention. She has a headband with yellow ears and matching tail, while wearing a teal gingham top and jeans.

And all I can do is shake my head and sigh at her questionable life choices. I just want her to go to school, get a degree and get a career. Instead she would rather stock shelves at walmart. -_-

Teens are rebels in general. If she is at least working and not loafing, she is going in the right direction. She just might need a bit of time before figuring out that you really do know what you're talking about.

Hopefully you all get confidence to share your problems and to realise friendships and relationships of all kind are (and should be) mutual! you can shoulder a lot of other people's problems... but then so can they! and they get to! just like you! it's only fair they get to do for you what you get to do for them... and unless being taken advantage of, they won't mind it anymore than you ^^
