Going to be buying another car in a month. Looking online at some options and trying to decide if I want an automatic or 5 speed. Hmmm...Really digging a 5 speed Saab and a automatic Eclipse I'm looking at.

What's the difference between an auto and a 5-speed? Is 5-speed just a manual?

I think this is time for me to start a "we need to talk about cars" thread.

Manual is ok for occasional, but unless you're really into cars, I'd go for the automatic.

Yep.  :)

I can drive either. I like manual because a clutch is cheaper to replace than an automatic transmission. Plus there is always the increased gas mileage.

I still have awhile to look around. I'm sure I'll go with price when considering.

Get busy and find something to do outside and away from the regular routine. Better not entertain those negative thoughts Virginia, you know your Auntie Shan thinks you're kinda special so I'm dedicating this my 5001st post just to you kid!  :icon_bunch:

As many of you might know, I moved back home with my father to attend law school and to help him out some after my mother died, it's too expensive in the Northeast to live on my own. Things are fine, the areas pretty nice, it's close to where I work, I don't have to pay rent, but my younger siblings. . . make life here less than ideal. All except my youngest brother are irresponsible liars, who steal and sell everything for drugs, and are continually about to burn the house down (I mean that literally--they put stuff in the oven, and then leave, causing me to come home awhile later wondering why the air smells like smoke). Their friends are just as bad, and because my siblings never lock the door, their friends just let themselves into the house all the time without knocking, there's times when I am home all alone and random young men let themselves in and make themselves comfortable. They're all under 21 and yet they sit here and drink alcohol and do drugs on our property. They break into things to pawn and scrap stuff to pay for their habits. Luckily, I don't have much of anything of value and my little dog is a biter, so when someone broke into my room through the window one day (I padlock the door), they didn't get anything. They did though break into my father's room (which he also padlocks) and stole some jewelry we had from my great-aunt who passed away, and they even sold my father's plumbing machine coil (300-lbs of stainless steel) for scrap. (*it's hard to always know who "they" are, since I am never here when it happens)

I am never around when they're doing this, if so, I'd have no hesitation on calling the police. But today, my father informed me that while I was out , he heard my dog barking and wondered why. He went over to where she was barking and saw those kids on the back porch making hash oil with one of his blow torches. Instead of calling the police, he just told them to leave. Now these creepy kids keep pulling into the driveway, idling, and then pulling out. I think they're waiting for us to go to sleep. My father has one of their jackets which has drugs in the pocket. Dad doesn't want to report it to the police, because he doesn't want them to have a criminal record--IMO they need one, they're not just innocent little hippies smoking some dope. There's been a string of break ins in the area recently, and I bet they're involved. None of them have jobs, how can they afford drugs? If they break into our house and steal our stuff, they have to be doing it to other people as well. Anyways, drug violations are usually easy to get expunged after 5 years (for misdemeanors) or 10 years (for felonies), so that gives them plenty of time to mature before they go out and try to get jobs.

Because of this, I was looking to move out before. I was planning on moving to Central Falls or Pawtucket, both of which are not "ideal" areas, but those are the only places where I'd be able to afford to move. When I told my father, he completely freaked out (here's his words: "CENTRAL FALLS?!?! CENTRAL FALLS?!?! You'll need to get a gun over there!" I thought he was going to have a stroke). But, I feel like I need a gun here.  At least on my own, it's easier to know who the enemies are, here, I can't always tell who the innocent friends are and who the enemies are, even my own siblings save one are the enemies.

If they're manufacturing hash oil, it's only likely that they're into other stuff or soon will be. I already know my younger sister has dealt stuff in the past. I think one of my younger brothers is on something else too, because once (when I wasn't here and my father was at work), he went into a rampage and broke one of the doors--a little pot doesn't put you into a rampage. And, I don't feel comfortable having these kids just letting themselves into the house all the time--realistically I know I am tiny and physically weak compared to a young man, I know I may sound paranoid, but what if one decides to try to rape me one day? Or, I catch them inside stealing stuff, will they try to attack me then?

And, I have a career to worry about. My firm does criminal prosecutions, and here I am, living with people who I think are involved in other crimes in the area and who I know do drugs and are likely continuing to deal them, and who drink alcohol illegally. This is crazy.

I hate shopping for women's clothing. How do girls do this? I spent over an hour this afternoon browsing at a second hand store. 99% of the clothes struck me as being absolutely hideous and the 1% that didn't didn't fit. Bah! What a waste of time.

Of course, it probably doesn't help that I don't have the foggiest clue what I'm doing...  :-\

I know how you feel, Maddie. I get completely anxious and overwhelmed anytime I go into a store. I don't think I've bought myself new clothes for the past few years (I always get clothes from relatives for birthday/Christmas/as gifts). And now as I'm trying to dress more male, I get to relearn how to shop all over again! Joy -_-

As for what I'm thinking right now: I have a lot to learn. And even though it feels overwhelming, it helps to know I am not alone.

Also, I have serious penis-envy :P

I love shopping. The problem is, I don't have the money to do it and I think I look stupid in the dresses I love. I have really low self esteem to so I just don't bother trying to buy any, even if I am financially able to.Hense why I only own 2.

While I like to think I am a hunk, I know I could never compete with the great Pammi Bai. :)

I wonder if I'm ever going to look male proportioned despite my hips or if my hips (and the consequent trying to hide that hip shape) will constantly make me look horrible.
A former friend who blew up at me for politely correcting her claimed to an acquaintance of mine that she plans on having "All knowledge is worth having" tattooed on her hip. I want to ask why she would tattoo something she doesn't believe on herself, but that would likely cause a s-word storm that I am not prepared for yet.

Finally got the gas tank off the lawn mower so I can see how bad the fuel leak was. Luckily, its just a bad line, but it'll have to wait til the end of the week for me to get a new one. And while I was hunting for the right tools, I realized how messy and disorganized my shop is compared to what it used to be. I'm a little ashamed of myself.

Yeah but what about your nails honey?  ;D :D
I used to have all the tools and equipment to totally rebuild an automotive engine, that was before having two boys for kids. Now I couldn't tune the simplest motor, the tools mysteriously disappeared. Just as well, I'm not into grease and grime anymore.

I've still got most of the tools, the only ones I sold were the mig and tig welders, plasma cutter, the milling machine and a few large power tools. Although to be honest, I kind of miss having them around, it was nice to have the equipment to fix or fabricate most anything from steel, stainless or aluminum. I put a bit of money into them over the years. But I was unemployed and needed the cash influx several years ago.

Oh and I don't have acrylics currently. I do need to get them done soon, my thumb has been healed up for a while now.

Even though I'm still technically Gender Fluid, I don't really want my avatar to be me..  Mostly because I know I don't pass so it makes me feel depressed.  Or ugly. ;.;

I always contend that when we sell tools or guns we will never replace them because new ones are twice as costly as the original items, Oh well guess they aren't real girly-girl toys anyway, but.....
