Growing up, I frequently asked my mom what my name would've been if "I'd been born a boy". It was Benjamin, which I chose because I like it and it felt right to honor my parents' choice. My middle name, James, I took after my father's middle name.
James, as it turns out, was going to be my middle name had I been born with male bits. I kept meaning to ask my mom but never got around to it. It was a choice between Richard (my dad's first name, brother's middle) and James, and James just sounded better. But yeah, inadvertently picked the exact name I was going to get if I'd been born with the right bits. I find it pretty funny, actually.
