Oh, um, er, hi, Kelly. I kinda borrowed one or two of the irons. I meant to leave a Post-it, um, was there one? I may have forgotten.

I'm just warming an iron for you.. I think 'Fiddle Fingers' will do..

The heck is THAT? You've got me curious now... I'm officially on a mission to find you your good floaty meat pie thing here.

I've found you exactly two Australian joints in LA: http://losangeles.menupages.com/restaurants/all-areas/all-neighborhoods/australian/

Thank you!

Am I the only one that is getting a mental image of a constipated person who finally got things worked out when those meaty pie floaters are described?

See for yourself

As you might recall, I made my own by immersing a chicken pot pie into some split pea soup.  I could not bring myself to slather on the tomato sauce.  :-\

As many of you know Cindy and I live in the same city..

She's not being entirely honest about Pie Floaters, there are 2 kinds of people that eat them.. People who are so drunk they'd eat their own excrement and tourists.. Sometimes they are one and the same..

Definitely a case of chickening out!

Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

Some day, I am going to belly up to the pie cart near the GPO on Franklin Street, and have an authentic pie floater.

The pie carts pointed out the egalitarian nature of Australia, wherein one could find all members of society lined up, shoulder to shoulder, for a late night meal.

And to segue back to the topic at hand, "egalitarian" should be a word that describes how Susan's operates.

A true comment from my Adelaide sister.

These were originally sold from the 'pie cart' in Adelaide (my internet access is playing up so I still can't send pics) but they were only on sale at night when the pubs closed. Bought by the hungry drunk and often deposited on the pavement close to the cart in a semi-digested form.

It was quite a social event, all stages of the process!!

In later years it was tried out as a tourist thingy, but I think it failed.

Kelly are there any operating carts? I don't think so? There was one at Norwood I thought?

The institution existed at the same time as the the 6 O'Clock rush. At that time alcohol sales stopped at 6pm. So guys (it seemed to be a male thing)  would leave work and drink a nights full of booze in an hour and be pissed as a rat, need food, eat a pie floater and deal with the consequences.

They would then stagger home to sleep it off.

It was a fascinating time of social growth in South Australia

An initial reportable post is often a mistake, often just a person not realizing what they have done, and usually it is best to seek clarification FIRST rather than just go off and report and then generate ill feelings without any effort to allow the offender a chance to realize they offended.

Now, on the other hand, a direct flame, a comment submitted either privately or in obvious reply to a response to an already reported comment, and lets face it , this stuff all has time stamps, so we can TELL when a person has been able to see the objection and has willfully ignored it and continued on...... I wholly support a mod stepping in and STEPPING on the offender.

There is no freedom of speech here, this is Susan's place and I treat it like I would treat my kitchen. Invite only and the second the invite was obviously a mistake, I support Susan or a representative of Susan being in a position to make the person feel unwelcome. And I would support this regardless of how much cash had been put in Susan's pocket by the offender. You can't buy off bad behaviour.
Well being TG is no treat, but becoming separated has sure caused me more trouble that being TG ever will be. So if I post, consider it me trying to distract myself from being lonely, not my needing to discuss being TG. I don't want to be separated a lot more than not wanting to be male looking.

That sounds like a particularly revolting Québec speciality I discovered last month, la Poutine   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PoutineYou have to try everything in life once but I gave up half way through...Maybe a theme for a new thread "The most revolting dish you ever ate?"  :)

There is no way you would get me to try this. I despise both pot pie and pea soup. but the Victoria Bitter looks like it might be worth a taste.

I just replaced the link to the French version of the description to the English version (at first I hadn't even noticed that is was French..). I suggest you try it and tell me afterwards if you still approve... ;)

The Chinese place near me sells french fries and gravy on their American menu, they're good! I don't think cheese curds could ruin that.

Disclaimer: I'll put gravy on anything!
