Think of it this way: contract killers might also be fun to hang out with (who knows?) would you hang out with one? or would you rather find someone who's fun and not a contract killer? sorry a bit of an extereme example xD

anyway i don't think anyone can be excused for not accepting you, especially not your family~I understand that not everyone's family is as accepting as others' but i know a lot of people who walked out on their families... and rightly so, and never looked back~ family is about love and understanding, both ways, never just one way. if there isn't enough love/understanding for everyone to accept everyone else just as they are then there isn't really any family to even worry about losing~ but hey that's just how i think... and it's probably influenced by me never having to worry about losing my family and all that, so it probably doesn't feel/work like that for everyone else :)

My family is very sentimental towards me but it's very difficult on them to break habits like calling me their brother or Eddy so I don't expect change over night.

Then you'll get along famously here! Everyone and their sister worships the Eagles. The movie Silver Linings Playbook was dead on. I am more Jennifer Lawrece as I'd rather dance then watch football and have been caught by my brother watching figure skating while the game was on lol but it's impossibe not to know about football here uness you are actively trying to ignore it, which many girls do here. Not all. Some. Prolly a significant minority.

Also, the most sympathetic portrayal of a transsexual woman is on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. In both episodes where she is in, she is the moral center of the episode. She is also beautiful, which gets rid of the whole man in a dress stereotype. People really believe that and will not think you are trans if you don't fit it. I have had to tell certain people before that I am a transsexual woman on hormones therapy and they would not believe me and they usually point to my breasts because I guess people don't realize that trans women can grow real actual breasts that look completely natural and not like implants. beat's me but it's happened twice.

I absolutely loved Silver Linings Playbook; the book was wonderful too! Well I was raised in a Buffalo style household, ya know a drinking city with a football problem so my mom was like WATCH FOOTBALL WITH US! and it just kinda stuck. How about that; mind me asking which episode of It's Always Sunny they are? I love that show to death Charlie and Mack are absolutely hilarious... and don't get me started on Danny DeVito. Hehe

Wow, small world. I'm from Western VA as well. Around the Wytheville/BlueRidge area.
So yeah that's a pretty tough area to try to transition in. I still visit about once every five years or so... Or I did before beginning to transition. It's pretty but so closed minded.

Dublin VA/Pulaski. I live right across the street from PCHS and 5 minutes from NRCC.

oh that's understandable... but you should expect the change at some point! I hope they all come around/get used to the change and you can all be happy :)

I like to think I'm really reasonable but I have half a mind to write on our little dry erase board "It's she not he". A little passive aggressiveness :3

You're a better person than me Ally, if I had an acquaintance, and they were gay, and they were in my face refusing to honour my needs for female manner of address as if he had no need to even care.

Well let's just say he couldn't even be paying for my surgery and remain labeled my friend for one thing, and even though I wouldn't mean any of the mean nasty homophobic slurs, I'd still subject him to a rather harsh demonstration of the worst ones I could think up just so he'd have no illusions of how wrong his behaviour truly was.

Truth is, just because a person is part of the LGBTG community, doesn't mean they are allowed to be as bad as any of the jerks in society that are not part of the LGBTG crowd.
Well being TG is no treat, but becoming separated has sure caused me more trouble that being TG ever will be. So if I post, consider it me trying to distract myself from being lonely, not my needing to discuss being TG. I don't want to be separated a lot more than not wanting to be male looking.

It's just sad that someone who has to deal with harassment would give it back to others. It just seems to pointless. I was talking to a friend though and some of the worst hate I've received is from transgendered women/men who got to transition as teenagers and develop a superiority complex. Dont get me wrong IM not hating the teenage transwomen because some bigots dont mean the whole community is that way.

just like people who were bullied or abused when they were little growing up to bully/abuse the younger children, bully their own children, bully their coworkers or employees... and yeah it's super sad :(

Stop the cycle. Hate begets hate, if you be the bigger person you can help stop the cycle.

Its just a saying IDK what to do; I mean if he feels that way he CAN feel that way just not be ignorant to others about it.

I agree, discuss it with him. In the end you will find friends that are supportive and are good for you emotionally. Perhaps he can grow a little.

Philly, where I work pays for HRT, SRS and some reconstruction (belly, breast and face (not nose)) up to $50,000.00. I was asked if I wanted to used the ladies bathroom or have a gender neutral bathroom installed by my office. When I come out there is a policy to deal with those who mis-gender let alone overtly discriminate. Although, my ops manager did not want to know my chosen name when I asked if he would like to know. He said he would wait till I came out publicly.

Screw every plan I ever had I'm movin' to Philly. It seems like every trans person lives there. LETS ALL TAKE OVER PHILADELPHIA; lets turn into the City of Gender Nonconforming Love!

As fun as he is to hang out with, if he doesn't have enough respect for you to stop doing something that you told him hurts you, then it's time to ditch him.  You deserve better and someone who accepts you completely for who you are.  The best friends have unconditional love.

And now we have people trying to tell me hormones change my voice. IDK why people who just see videos of trans people, think they automatically know how everything works. I am literally sitting here arguing that it doesn't showing links and stuff and ugh some people man... just stupid.
