Sooo. I'm a week into the Body Beast and I'm doing T25 as a warm up kinda thing cause I find Beast very static. Well damn, it's kicking my ass lol. Feeling great though. Looking forward to the stretch routine today hehe.

Anyway. I was looking into recovery drink and such. I have never been one to use them but I'm curious. Some people swear by them. I am a skeptic.   I wonder if I can make myself a smoothie that would do the same as those really expensive supplements. If I understand correctly, the recovery drinks that you take after workout are loaded with carbs. Correct me if I'm wrong. So making myself a smoothie with protein and loads of berries mixed type thing would do the same?

If anyone has any input on their nutrition routine post workout, I'm listening.

Post work out recovery usually revolves arund the idea of getting a bunch of simple carbs (sugar, so your fruit counts) combined with protein. The theory is that the simple carbs will 'shuttle' the protein into your body quickly. Some people subscribe to nutrient timing and some people don't. I usually drink a protein shake with simple carbs and low to zero fat after a work out.

Thanks for the reply Chuck.

I thought this section of the board had been completely abandoned...

Anyway yeah. I been doing my own shakes with protein powder and skim milk and a bunch of fruits.  I keep up with the workout regimen. I have reworked my schedule and made it more balanced and gave me a recovery and a stretch day. If I feel restless on my rest days I whipped up a couple of 10-15 minute crushers and that settle me down.  I'm getting leaner, building muscle and I feel frakkin fantastic. I just switched from oral T to injections. So I have hopes that will also be a bit of a supplement to my ability to work even harder.

I can't really tell if the shake makes a difference or not but hey, they are tasty and low cal so what the heck lol.
