Is anyone else trying to grow a beard? I'm trying and I'm unhappy with my thin facial hair. It's not thick enough in my opinion. However, I'm trying! Haha.

I wanted to make a thread for those of us trying to grow a beard. Maybe show some progress, tips etc?

My beard so far.

Sorry my face is goofy!

Your beard looks fine to me. Although it may be hard to judge from a relatively dark picture. Also, I couldn't help but think of this when I saw your post:

My facial hair is by no means ready to become a beard (I'm 5 months on T) but who knows, maybe in the future!

Don't think theres' a thing you can do. Beard growth is highly genetic and all cis males don't grow wonderful thick beards.
I used dye on my mustache. It's visible without but it does help it look darker. I used Just for Men Mustache and Beard. I am thinking of trying to find something natural. I have heard some guys have trouble with irritation and blisters.

Good idea for a thread.

I'm 2 years in and you have a better beard than me, Darrin (I think you started not too long after I did).  Mine is thickening right up, but is still sparse and I have practically no sideburns.  I can see it coming in still and I know that it usually takes about 5 years for a good beard to creep up your face, so I'm not in a rush - just thankful for the little that I have:

I've been using Biotin daily for about a couple of months and it seems to be helping with the growth thickening.  I'm also starting to use a face scrub and massaging eucalyptus oil into my beard to see if it stimulates new growth.

Wow thats great!

Everyone is looking good. I hope more people post on here. I want to see people's progress. I know you can't force growth, but I thought it'd be a good thread for people trying to grow facial hair or a beard.

Here are some more shots of me: New hairs growing in! My beard is spreading!

Like this one?

My best advice dont shave.

But I have found that my beard looks a million times nicer when its trimmed. Especially the edges of the beard to give it some shap. Right now, its pretty scraggly, but it doesnt bother me, so I am letting it go for a while until I feel like trimming or shaving. I also think that scruff looks much nicer than my scraggly beard. I usually let my mood dictate my beard. If I feel like keeping the world away, I grow it out longer and if I feel like being more friendly then I keep it short (just scruff).

Your beard looks really good. I assume you've been on T a while.

Ah it's all about genetics. Mine is still pretty patchy but I have the exact same beard as my (bio male) brother

So do you guys actually shape your "neck/cheek lines" like this describes? http://www.beards.org/neck.php Or just let it do its thing? Some day I hope to have a nice thick beard to help strengthen the look of my narrow chin.

Be weird. Be random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you hide.

I just let it do it's own thing.  I don't want to risk messing it up while trimming and having to cut part off.  Plus I actually really like the look of a natural neckline more and wish I had more neck growth.

I agree with wheat. I just let it do it's own thing. I don't trim it really ever.

When it didn't grow in as thickly I left it alone, didn't want to mess it up and have to shave it. These days I usually shape the neck line. Just took this for reference:
