I don't know how I fit into the mold, I kinda threw out the book on trans tendencies at 14 when I was reading my parent's nursing books to try to confirm to myself I was not transgendered (see! I don't have those symptoms... all the while ignoring all the ones I did!)

However, I am a big time Geek/Nerd. My IQ is 163-147 (I don't feel particularly brilliant :-\)I've been tabletop roleplaying since I was 14, a voracious sci-fi reader, captain of my high school quiz bowl team, published poet, played the saxophone and the organ (no jokes please..  ;)), ran the Anime club at my university with an iron fist in my first stint as an undergrad, amateur brewer, amateur chef, and very much right handed... :)

There's a lot about IQ on here...

I don't know my IQ, but being lazy certainly drops it 20 points ;) Luckily that may still put me above average (at least as far as work reviews go ;)).

I'm not that lazy. I am feeling really lazy lately, though - with all I'm going through.

But I dont recall any of them, who was trans.

It is reported that The Unabomber went to a doctor for a "sex change".

He looks to be an autistic-GID person.

Autism mixed with GID. If untreated, a sure combination to produce a monster. I know.

I was talking to my therapist about this subject once and she said that the computer industry is filled with trans people LOL....

I've been coding for almost 30 years, A lot of what I know is self taught; I have always been able to pick things up quickly. Assembly, JCL, device programming with SCSI, Windows programming, Unix, C, C#, C++ and so on.

I'm also ADD, the older I get the worse it is. I now have to take a pill in the morning to get my mind to focus, otherwise it's daydreaming all day long and no work gets done.

I have always wanted to learn a musical instrument since I felt that I could play.

I'm right handed although my dad is a lefty.

It's always interesting to me to read threads about this.

It's kind of ironic that I'm reading this when I should be programming my Android app for work.  This is more interesting.  :) Yup, I'm a software doobie for most of the last 30 years.  Got a math degree too, but can't remember any of it.  Not left handed but use to goofy foot skateboards, and prefer that way when windsurfing.  I'm a bit of a hack on the piano as well.  So I guess I fit the mold too.

Hm. Let's see...

1. I have had an I.Q. of 125 since high school (an I.Q. of 125 is comparable to having a natural intelligence of a grad student in college if I understand correctly)
2. I'm currently working toward a secondary art education degree because I want to teach and I want to use art to teach critical thinking to students, and I want to try to find new ways to do this.
3. I'm artistic (Specifically good at painting. My current instructor has suggested I take advanced oil painting, something that usually isn't allowed for someone only going for an art education major).
4. I have Attention deficit disorder without hyperactivity (a more common version of ADD in women)
5. I'm a bit of a geek (Star Wars, Star Trek, and MMOs all the way until the day I die!)
6. I'm terrible at math. Despite being in the top 20% of my class at the moment and in an honors society (Kappa Delta Pi, Albert Einstein was also in this honor society) I recently failed College Algebra and am well on my way to do the same with Intro to Statistics.
7. Because of #6, I'm starting to suspect I have issues with Dyscalculia as despite being intelligent and good at every subject thrown at me in school from an early age, I have never been good at math despite working very hard at it for years.
8. I used to play clarinet. I could play the instrument quite well, and could play music after listening to it and play small songs made up by myself. However ... I could never figure out how to read the music notes, making playing even basic scales difficult. I nearly had a nervous breakdown over that during a test in band.
9. I love to keep my house clean (...and hate that since I'm a full time student and seem to be the only one who knows how to use a broom and a sponge in my house, that my house has become a disaster area since the start of the semester).
10. I'm right handed.

Right handed, but eat left handed, am ambidextrous archer and in batting.

IQ tested from 130 through 180 depending on the test- last was 145.

Violet Bloom

As a perfectionist I have failed in my previous post because I failed to mention I'm also a perfectionist.  Damn...

  •

Sammy

I am a perfectionist too - which comes great together with the ADHD and leads to outbursts of GAD (or maybe that's not a disorder, because I have ascendant Virgo in my birth chart which gives the lovely trait to worry about all things in the world) :P.

I've been playing the electric guitar since I was 15 (been through 8 guitars.) Became a published author in 2000 (3 books published) and I enjoy drawing and reading.

Wow, this is really interesting!  ^-^ There are a lot of common interests here, except that I don't understand nothing about programming and hated maths!

I don't remember my IQ and I am too lazy now to take the test again, but I remember it was above the average
I play the violin
I love to draw
I am right handed except when eating; my father was left-handed
I am kind of a perfectionist
I love sci-fi, specialy Star Trek; I love anime/manga
I love games and spent a good 4 years playing World of Warcraft (still miss my Death Knight!)

I remember reading somewhere that MTF people and females in general are more likely to develop artistics activities, as the female brain works different than the male :D

Well lets see,

I am left handed.
Graphic Designer
Love Geek Stuff scifi and Fantasy.
I can do HTML (does that count as programming, I cannot however grasp harder programming however)
Tried to learn the guitar but my hands were really small and well just hard!
Graphic Designers pretty much have to be perfectionist.
IQ have nooo clue, but that is ok.

It seems like a lot of common things here

I can do some programming Basic, Visual Basic, debug C code.
Use linux a lot although still learning, can setup a web and email server and did in middle school about 20 years ago the first time.

Leftie

Love Star Trek and most scfi.

Which reminds me.... kinda a different topic or maybe a poll but how many of us liked Choose your own adventure books?
I loved them along with How things work and just about anything on technology I could get my hands on

Spend nearly all of my free time reading. Play RPG's offline like Skyrim although I haven't in awhile.

Suck at drawing mainly due to lack of coordination, really clumsy

Highly creative kind of like MacGyver I suppose,  expressive too sometimes. Tore all of my toys apart and put them back together.

IQ over 150 but don't feel that smart. Struggle with math and language. Never been tested as ADD but I think so. Concentration is not something that I have.

Love all of these posts. Very interesting topic.

I get you with the IQ thing. Mine is 142, less than 1% of the population, but I feel like a complete idiot and may be set to fail a critical class this semester if I can't get 100% in everything left.
Same with drawing, I'm pretty much adextrous. Even with a mouse, I'm as uncoordinated with it in the left hand as the right. I've always had people ask if I'm Asperger's or something, which I've always contemplated, but moving schools and states so often I never got any attention for it if I do.
Hey, you've reached Lauren's signature! If you have any questions, want to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, leave me a message, and I'll get back to you.
