I'm glad he's dead. This is a character who vomits for thirty straight seconds after finding out his date was trans. Call me biased, but that's not an endearing character trait.

The Meg bashing has always confused me. It seems the only reason that people hate her is because the show says to hate her. She's never done anything terribly offensive, and is in fact one of the nicest characters on the show. It almost seems like there is a parallel to a situation we're currently going through which is poignant and slightly ironic, but I can't think of what it is.

It is a cartoon. the characters only do what the director tells them to do.

The entire show satires much of life, no one is exempt. Personally (after watching that particular scene on YT) I felt it was much more satire directed at people who are ignorant of TG people; both Brian and Stewie had stereotypical anti-trans responses...and it appears from the dialogue that Ida (the woman in question) passes quite well, in spite of Stewie's comment "Oh, you'd know it was her..." after Brian expressed concern of not being able to identify her.

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Brian is the author avatar, though. Not only is he voiced by Seth, he is the voice of Seth. Everyone on the show, with the exception of Glenn, treats Ida as if she were still a man, or worse, as an abomination. What really gets me is that Seth thought that this was a good portrayal, that trans people would like it. I might be alone here, but I didn't like it. I saw this episode three days after I came out and it very nearly made me go back in the closet. Like I said, perhaps I'm biased, but that's just how I feel.
I'm not here to decorate your world.

When I first started therapy (for child abuse issues) I noticed a LOT of shows (especially on FOX) made rape and molestation into a joke. Often, I'd have to leave the room because of it.

I stayed just long enough to let my kids know how those "jokes" made me feel, and after that they pretty much stopped watching those shows (at least, when I was there).

I really don't know what I'm saying here, no clear goal I guess. I understand that it hurts.

:(

Hmm. . . seems like I should've just started a topic over in Entertainment: Television

I'm thinking that there seems to be an awful lot of depression spoken about here, I can't say that it isn't valid for those who feel depressed. When my business went under and we lost everything including our home, and one of my son's was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy I was depressed for awhile, but for the most part I am thankful that I am probably too stupid to get depressed about much else.  ;D

I wish that I could find a way to improve the sound of these godawful phone videos. I have tried looking in my compy's control panel, tweaking things in the VLC player and nothing is working. This is really depressing. I wish someone could help me. I wish I wasn't so stupid.

It's mmkay, the title and summary when I tried to watch it online would have spoiled it anyway. -.-" lol

Offnote: I'm actually not really a fan of Family Guy anymore; the writer team must have had a drastic change because it's just really lame and unfunny now. >.> The only Seth McFarlene show I still like is American Dad, lol

New boss sucks, I get to work 8 hours, off for 7 work 8,and this is supposedly with 6 to 8 hour a day restrictions and weight restrictions. Even worse when I worked 8 hours before that within 1/2 hour of getting the new limits, without sleep.

Wonderful.
Our cat almost managed to screw up my T shot by ramming himself against the bedroom door while my fiancé was doing the injecting. Oh well, I still got the shot and a little scratch wound in my buttcheek from the needle.

I think I'll just be happy it's not Monday. I bet a pheasant would've crashed through the window in the middle of the injection.

Can't sleep. I have to get up in 1.5 hours, close to when I normally go to bed.

Asking people to reexamine and change behaviours that have been ingrained in their professional practice for twenty years is daunting. I'm Quixote tilting at his windmills.

My son was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder this morning. That's what they call it. I don't care what we call it. I just want to know what to do about it.

Also, I actually have a crush on someone. This sucks.

When this was diagnosed didn't they give you some idea of how it is to be treated?

Having a crush is normal, so why does it suck?

He's being referred to more people.
It sucks because he's a straight guy. Not that he'd be interested in me even if he wasn't.

Good, it's smart to get second opinions.

Straight guy is ok, you just never know hon. Besides things are not always as they seem, sometimes we get surprised, even shocked by things that turn out to be outside of our assumptions or expectations. Don't forget to smile!  :)
