Compared with other countries, my impression was that Japanese people do not stare at others so much. They are polite people. Yes. Still, a few people studied me, but far less than in other countries.

When I was in Sapporo.

And in Tokyo.

If you live in the US you've likely been a longer distance from your home than I've been.
I live in southern Sweden and the longest I've been from home was northern Germany, which is about 200 miles away.

Sweden and Greece are places I'd love to visit someday.

But every time I get back to Europe I just end up going home and staying there   ::)

Around 1 year before HRT (June 2012) and after 5 months of HRT

wow. :o Your face says it all. You've changed a lot not just physically but your whole demeanor looks like a happy girl who's full of life now! The other picture looks so lifeless next to it. It's astonishing seeing what being yourself can do. Who knew that happy-go girl was hiding under that social pressured mask. Amazing progress!

Okay, I need some advice again.

As you all might (or might not) be aware, I'm considering going full-time. (Specifically, interviewing for jobs as a girl, which admittedly has me scared out of my wits.) But I'm having a few mental issues with needing to wear a wig in order to consistently be gendered female. I don't really consider myself that feminine. Being feminine takes conscious effort for me. I'd much rather be able to just chill out, be a nerd, not have to worry about my hair, not have to worry about makeup or the perfect de-masculinizing clothes and accessories, and yet still pass as female.

I think I FINALLY found a way to make myself still look completely female even when I'm not wearing a wig, and I'd like some opinions on the matter.

Again, this is serious. This isn't just a "boost my self-esteem" post. This is a "right now, with this appearance, could I go full-time, call myself Carrie, reasonably expect people to gender me female all the time, use the women's bathroom without worrying about it, and finally get on with my new life?"

I've only been out in public like this once so far, so I don't have the same sample size of consistent female genderings to back me up on this like I do when I'm wearing the wig, so I really want to make sure that I look female enough like this before I dare trying to intrude into women's spaces. So far I'm 2-0 in female-male genderings, so so far so good, but again, I'm just checking everyone here's opinion.

Thoughts?

(and by the way, this is a blatant "girl mode," because the clothes are indeed all female clothes. But it's definitely among my butchest and most androgynous ones. I do have ones that are much more blatantly-female. I'm just afraid to wear them until I'm more sure that I'm passing.)

I felt less stared at when I was in Korea than I do in Japan.  I'm really looking forward to going to Korea again :)

In Korea, everybody looks at me, especially foreigners and tourists. At my hometown, some women in the waiting room study me for more than 1 minutes. In northern Europe, it is the same. The U.S. tends to be less. In Korea, any foreigner tends to get inevitable attention, especially if your hair and eye color is not black.

Japan was the only country where people do not dare to meet my eyes so much.

I wish to go to Greece soon. Probably this year? I am not quite sure.

The longest place was Buenos Aires, and it took 36 hours from my hometown. Next year, probably I will go to São Paulo ( Saint Paul), and I hesitate to go there.

In April, I will go to Hawaii, and in September, to Spain. It will be exciting!

Barbie, maybe Japanese people are good at staring without staring :D

You certainly travel a lot! It must be great to experience so many different cultures.

What PrincessPatience said. You look really confident and happy in the second picture. It's like they are two different people :)

It's a video. So yeah, probably not going to show up on a phone.

Carrie what are you doing on this thread? It's time to stop looking for excuses to not be living as yourself and start living as yourself! ;)

Indeed ^^

I am feeling much happier since I accepted myself and HRT has been so far the best antidepressant I could have. I am more confident since I can see a better future for me now. I also feel a lot more goofy sometimes  ;D...I am always laughing and everything seems funny and amuse me now. I think this is a great change from the bored, sad and extremely shy person that I was.

I was born and I live in São Paulo. Despite all the violence and such, I was never robbed in all my life. Sure, it is a big polluted city, with heavy traffic and some very poor places where the risks of being robbed are greater, but I believe it is a problem shared by many big cities all over the world. Besides the bad aspects, here you can find some very nice places and restaurants! If you need any tips, just ask me. Oh, and if you come here someday, remember to call me  ;)

Just checking to see if I can still pass with the wig off. Sorry... :( It's just that the last time I posted a wigless video, the response seemed to be that I just looked female-leaning androgynous, with lots of people giving me advice on how I could look more blatantly-female. So now that I think I've finally found a wigless hair style that works, I'm just making sure that it really does before I even try entering women's spaces like this.

Hi girls, considering going out 1st time as me. It will be a private venue, group meeting of CIS and transgender females, just not confident enough  ::) in my looks, dont want to scare anyone with my face.

I would be very happy to hear your true opinion.
This is my 1st photo with wig, also I did my eyebrows. Comments on make up also appreciated.
And yes, there is still visible beard shadow, which I am planning to fix with dermablend, as lipstick trick is not working well for me.

You're really very cute and have great potential, nice eyes and eyebrows, good job! The wig really complements and goes well with the shape of your face. I can see what appears as a little beard shadow. I'm not an expert on beard shadow cover ups, perhaps one of the other women here will have some good advice on that. But I like your looks, quite feminine and basically pretty.
