Hey everyone,

So, I have recently started laser for my facial hair and have been really excited that I'm making progress.  The only problem so far is that laser is not a cheap solution.  Now, I don't mind investing in my transition with what I can afford, but there is no way I could pay to get all of my body hair done on top of my facial hair.  I've been on hormones for a few months now and have seen reduction in the growth and intensity of body hair; however, I still have to shave in order to be hair free and have to deal with some stubble.  So, I have a whole list of random questions for some of you out there to see how I should proceed.

Is there anyone out there that has lost their body hair from hormones alone?  How long on hormones did this start?
If not, how did you get rid of it?
Has anyone used one of those home lasers like tria?  Do they work?
Do you have any affordable solutions in general for someone looking to remove body hair.

Again, I don't mind shaving and I'm not terribly hairy, but it gets annoying.  Plus, I'm pretty white, so the stubble is more noticeable.   Therefore, if there are any permanent solutions that are affordable, I'd really like to hear about them.

P.S.  Sorry for any disorganization, but it's me, lol.  :) ;)

I've been reading into this topic a lot. I've found that many people say "laser hair removal isn't permanent, it just thins it out so you don't notice it as easily." A lot of people are doing electrolysis and that is PROVEN to be permanent. I'm looking into doing that rather than paying for laser forever lol

HRT and waxing go a long way.  Your body hair might not want to grow back after the root is ripped out.  And waxing is WAYY cheaper than laser.

The hair always grows back with waxing, it just takes much longer to see it than shaving. But waxing is a pain! No pun intended, it is such a hassle and it hurts! I'd rather shave than wax, no doubt.

When you aren't on HRT this is true.  My back hair is pretty much gone for good now after 2 waxings.

Yeah, but laser does a lot and works better for certain skin types.  I'm in the category that would benefit from laser.  It will be manageable for my face.  As for the body, electrolysis is much more expensive and wouldn't be a good substitute for me as I'm avoiding laser on my body hair simply because of the price.

I don't mind waxing, but I do want something permanent.  How often do you have to wax?  And how long have you been on hrt?

I've been on E since January, upped my dose in July and just recently on P.   I waxed in March and again in November.  The back hair seems to be mostly gone and the arms only have fine hairs now.

I might not need laser on my body after all.  Try waxing a few times before you spend a fortune on something you don't necessarily need.

I've had thick body hair and since having a higher dose of my hormones in mid July it's been thinning out a lot, probably by spring sometime it will all be gone. Hormones will thin out your body hair, it just takes time, trust me :]

I got down to no body hair except legs (and let's face it, most cis women have leg hair too) and crotch within about six months on HRT, but I didn't have much to start with. I did notice after a while that my arm hair had also reduced to fine, light, short growth.

Also, laser is FDA approved to be permanent removal of hair growth from a given follicle, it's just that it won't necessarily kill *every* single follicle. I lucked out; I'm another who was a good candidate, and I got my facial hair reduced permanently to maybe 5-6 persistent hairs that I can just pluck or wax.

Odd question what about nose hair  :P

Honestly one of the worst spots to get hair if you ask me.....unluckily my dad has crazy nose hair and mine can get crazy if I don't use my clippers every day.  :embarrassed:

How about just plucking it out (I know it hurts, but pretty much everything hurts when being plucked/epilated/lasered)? When I was taking biotine, it did grew back as crazy, now it seems to be either gone or really slowed down...

I was afraid of that answer, I'll give it a try ><;

Other than electrolysis (which is expensive) I can't think of any other permanent solutions. It has been bugging me too, so much time spent with a shaver, and I haven't started HRT. At least I have an electrolysis consultation scheduled for the 19th.

Hehe, the million dollar question :). Your success, and the options, are just so variable :)

HRT alone has done great things for the reasonable hair I had on my arms and tummy. While I regularly epilate arms and legs, I left my tummy alone to see what HRT was doing. Keep in mind that my T has only been under control for the last three months. In that time, my tummy hair has gone sparse, small and lost colour. It's basically turning vellus. My arms still have an amount of non vellus hair, but it has reduced in thickness and density by perhaps half. No real noticeable changes on my legs though.

In terms of some forceful removal, both laser and electrolysis have DIY options, reducing cost significantly. Depends on your hair and skin as to which is effective, as you'd already know.

With my hair and skin, laser really wouldn't do much. There's some hair it would knock out, but it would leave the majority behind. Electrolysis on the other hand... that does do the job. I've bought a 'One Touch' electrolysis machine to tackle the remainder of my facial hair, and legs.

And for the nose, plucking :). But the hair does get finer, and less painful to pluck over time.
