Hey guys..

Well I'm 22 (almost 23) years old and as of today came out to my mother/sister/and a few friends that I wanted to start HRT.
I am currently 'male' but I'm starting to tow that line growing out my hair, shaving, etc...

I had a breaking point last night where I tried to get in touch with a therapist (I really have no idea how to get on HRT).. and I wanted to cut myself so I gave all my knives to my mother to lock up.
My mother is in denial and my father doesn't know.. Thankfully my friends seem supportive.

I knew this was going to be a big year.. now I'm beginning to see how big of a year it's really going to be.

There is tons of info and helpful ppl on this site. You prob want to start talking to a therapist. Depending on where you are at you need a letter from your therapist or informed consent.
Be the change you wish to see in the world

Thanks, I had a feeling I'd need something like that.
I'm already in the process of setting up an appointment.

A big warm welcome to the family baby sister! You have come to the right family for answers and guidance. The biggest benefit is support! None of us can do something like this alone, here you have all the help you can handle along with over 9,000 other family members. So glad I don't have to plan that reunion!  ;D Relax, make yourself at home and dig in. I look forward to getting to know you better in the future. When you get 15 post's, don't hesitate to PM me with any questions, rants, vents or anything else. Here is a BIG HUG ( :icon_hug:) to start your new journey off right! :)

I honestly cried a little when you called me 'baby sister'... Such a great feeling, it really is.

Hey there, hon.  Cutting is only going to give you a temporary reprieve from the pain, and then ugly scars.

Not sure where you are located, or if you have insurance that covers therapy, but if you are in the US or Canada you can use the "Find a Therapist" utility on PsychologyToday.com

You can filter for those therapists that have LGBT and/or transsexual expertise.

Work outs are good.  Helps fight depression and keeps you healthy.

I have to walk the dog tonight.  :(

Well, that was a pretty brave step. Congrats and welcome. You'll find a lot of people here to relate to and seek advice from. I mean, not me, I'm not one of those people that helps or gives good advice, but others will. I have the faith in them

Welcome sister!  A bit of bravery is the first step on the ladder that will get you up and living.  Good luck!
Body... meet brain.  Now follow her lead and there will be no more trouble, you dig?

First of all welcome and congratulations.

This is a nice place with lots of supportive people.

Ask questions, someone will be able to help you. If you live in Canada I can.

Thanks everyone, it means a lot.

I was up most of last night talking with a few friends, they seem very supportive. I'm still fairly embarrassed talking about it with them but they haven't given me any crap about it.
I work at home on the computer so today I decided to wear a clear coat on my nails and some lip stick...

My mother could find out but... honestly I almost want her to, she is still in denial and I need to be able to do this conformable at home, or find another one.
