We, as beings living out our lives, have three ways we can go:

The robot: Brain-centered computation performed within this universe (within your mind). Computation is the necessary thinking that gets us through two plus two.

The zombie: The conscience choice of fear. Fear itself is subject to deterministic factors (universe bound). The choice to choose fear is not. The choice is yours alone but comes from outside the universe.

The human: The conscience choice of love. Love itself is subject to deterministic factors (universe bound). The choice to choose love is not. The choice is yours alone but comes from outside the universe.

Nothing profound comes from this world (not possible inside a deterministic framework). This world is where inspiration is played out rather than born.

Okay, for sure the above is interesting, "but" you say "it's only philosophy. Philosophy is only a three-dollar word for an opinion and everyone has one. If there is any reality to what you're saying we need proof."

Enter quantum physics. I submit the following workshop for your review.

and...

This is the work of Stephan Davis and most likely the most important thing I've ever watched and/or read. Mr. Davis offers his e-book, audio book and workshops free of charge (donations only).

The youtube workshops go on for about six hours (I've watched the totality of them three times now). It's difficult to give you the gist of them since my post will only be a few paragraphs long and the info goes on for six-plus hours. I'll do my best.

The video workshop can be broken down like this:

1. Quantum physics - Absolute proof that this world isn't real.

2. Brain studies – experiments with biofeedback showing that our thoughts are originating from outside the body.

3. The author's pseudo-spiritual interpretations of what is happening (guru-ish but interesting).

The single and double-slit experiments (performed thousands of times since the 1950s) will show you in stark terms that this "reality" we live in is made only of waves, nothing solid, until we interact with them. We perceive them as solid for two reasons: this is the way our brain is wired and the quantum waves that make up this universe change as we interact with it, giving us the illusion of a solid interactive world.

When he gets to psychology (my field) the evidence presented gets even stranger: We don't think our thoughts. Our thoughts are coming from outside, "The Field" as the physicist's keep saying, is where inspiration comes from. My interpretation? We, as human beings living out our lives, are only nodes of a super-mind. What this super-mind is I have no idea. Stephan Davis will tell us that we cannot know. We only have the equipment to process data on this side of "The Field." Davis calls the super-mind "the Infinite I" ("I" as in "me") and assumes it's benevolent (it may be neutral, it could be malevolent). This is part of his philosophy; interesting but unprovable.

Concluding thoughts: I believe Bill Hicks has got it right, it's a choice between fear and love, that's all. No gurus, no holy books, no temples, no heady philosophies. Only a simple choice. We stumble over the simplicity of it.

Tomorrow part three: successful interactions with the super-mind.
