you're going to have to excuse my facial hair since I've not been out to the store to get razors, but Im looking at ways to soften my face and get a nice, androgynous haircut for while I make plans to grow mine out into a longer style. thing is my fringe has gotten out of control, and my hair is thick and wild

I've recently started having my eyebrows thinned and its helped my face somewhat, but I'm trying to think of longer, more feminine styles to work with mine. I was hoping to someday have a shoulder length haircut sometime but those wings are an absolute pain. I want to hide my cheekbones a bit more so I can hide some of the more masculine parts of me.

Any ideas? I'm struggling to come up with anything that might work for me right now :S

Your face seems oval, which usually works with most hairstyles. You're blessed to have cheeks! You mentioned wanting shoulder-length hair, so maybe you can simply leave it be?

If you're unwilling to feminize your eyebrows, having bangs to cover them up always helps, just trim them at home once they start to get past the tip of your nose and leave the rest to grow? That's what I did, anyway.

As of right now, I don't think there's much you can do but get a cut that'll put off long hair for a while, or wait it out. It sucks, I've been growing my hair out for two years and I still want it longer.

Your hair seems a bit uneven though, like shorter at the back when compared to the sides, I'm guessing it's been left longer at the top originally and you've only really trimmed your bangs since your last cut?

If you want to do something edgy, you can cut the back and sides really short (4 to 8 on a machine) while leaving the top and front untouched (though I'd wait for your bangs to get a bit longer first). I did that like 3 years ago and felt crazy for it at first, made a huge difference in how I look, but the next few days I got complimented a lot and looked at more on the street, so it ended up being one of my favourite haircuts. Also, having the back of your neck exposed is kind of sexy, short doesn't necessarily mean masculine, just really depends on how it's done. You seem to have a slender neck like me, so at least that part will look good!

Something like that is what I mean. Going to need wax or spray probably to give it a textured look. It looks like a high-maintenance cut but it's really not. Way more time-consuming to manage long hair in my experience... washing it, then it takes time dry... easier to just get out the shower, rinse the hair well and slap some gunk on to mess it up and make it look textured. =P

In fact, I grew long hair from that hairstyle, so maybe you could just be going down the same route as me haha

I'm actually really wanting to feminize my face and eyebrows, mine get very thick and bushy sometimes (uni brow and all, so i get that threaded till I can work out a more permanent solution). I can't cut my own hair very well, but I used to like having the sides longer than the rest of it, so it is a bit uneven right now. I'm thinking of getting the layers out of it and then growing it out properly.

I really do like the hair cut you showed by the way, it's really neat! :) I dont know about cutting it really short though because I find my cheek bones become a bit obvious.

Permament eyebrow hair removal is a bit like getting a tattoo! You might end up regretting it and then you can't change =P Ever tried tweezing? It can be a bit time-consuming but you should be fine just doing it every other weekend. Alternatively you can get them waxed professionally. If you wanna do it at home though I can link you some guides on how to tweeze eyebrows at home =)

Okay, so there's different ways to shape your eyebrows, some look better on certain face shapes. The longer your face is, the less the arch on them should be... so basically... a very long face would have straight eyebrows with almost no arch. I believed yours should be arched but not too much, your face still seems rather long despite being curvy!

Tweezers and an eyeliner pencil or pen are all you'll need! You need to mark three spots, basically, on each eyebrow. Where they start, the peak of their arch and where they end.

This is the easiest way to style your eyebrows. Put a pen next to your nose, kind of like mimicking the line in the picture below, then mark where the pen touches your forehead (like this!)... that'll be the start of your eyebrow! The outer corner of your iris' will be where the arch peaks and your eyebrows end where your eyes end. (Some eyebrows end up being longer though, usually if your face is thin and not very broad)

Here's another pattern if you wish to have them longer, but I think the above one might suit your face more!

Also, however you do it, make sure to pluck from the bottom if you want them to be feminine! You can clear up the top but when styling your eyebrows, always remove hair from underneath!

I went with having the back and sides evened out in length and the layers taken out so it sits flatter, the fringe is like a bob but swept slightly too one side. Im gonna tweese tomorrow and shave and then put up a pic I think :)

Interesting to know. I've been wondering if I should do anything with mine, they're not wide or thick but also not arched. My main issue is that the hairs themselves can be quite long if not kept in check (symptom of old dude bushy eyebrow syndrome). They're under control, but maybe that's all I need to do?

Yes, I don't see anything wrong with your eyebrows, they look good to me in your avatar =P

If you wanted to arch them a bit, you could definitly get away with that, who knows you might like them better =) (though I wouldn't do it if you only got what's in your avatar to work with... personally I hate very thin eyebrows, but maybe that's just me =P)
