People have different tolerances for pain - for me my first session of electro didn't hurt all that much. I may think differently in different areas but if what I felt Monday was typical it's more of a discomfort vs. "pain."

Woot! Congrats on starting E!

Strong features:
- Your skin, seriously. You are at 42 and don't have bad wrinkles yet really. I'm dealing with crows feet and number 11 lines and I'm only 38.
- Brow ridge does not look pronounced. This is a huge plus.
- Great hairline and not thinning in back that I can tell. Another huge plus.

What's gonna suck:
- Hair removal for that beard. Judging by the shadow it looks pretty thick and probably has a lot of blonde in it. Electrolysis just plain sucks. It hurts like hell and is hella expensive.

Hopefully HRT plays out well for you. I think the results are kinda iffy and may be very slow at our age.

Have you had your upper lip cleared yet? That is the difficult area for me, along with right along the jawbone. But the lip, oh god, that just plain sucks and it puts me in tears every time. I use 5% lidocaine now which helps some, but still... it's torture.

What do you think? I'm pre hrt but already 3 laser sessions down. Attempting to do makeup but pretty sure im failing at it as I have no idea what Im doing... also freaking out about my hairline as Its thinning out and getting the M shape! :embarrassed:

And here is another one with a cheap $7 wig that looks like crap but I kind of like it.

Any tips for makeup like how do i find my true tone as im pretty sure its not quite the right shade or probably more important how do you hide your beard better? hopefully in a few more laser sessions it wont be a problem and once i start hrt that should help too.

Not yet but that is the area I think is going to be rough for me. I will be buying the numbing cream for those areas.

Went clothes shopping after work and OMG I finally got the right sizes and it feels amazing. So how do I rate without makeup?

Without makeup?  You look better than I do with makeup!

here I am just 1 day on estrogen and 3 weeks on spiro Yeah I don't look feminine now, but at least tell me what my strong features and and what my weak ones are.

Shawn, don't sell yourself short.  You look like you've got a full head of hair (huge plus!) and nice rounded features, especially the cheeks - with long hair, makeup and clothing, I think you'll be far further along that you give yourself credit for.

For a $7 wig, you're getting $7,000 worth of value.  The difference between the two pictures is like night and day, the latter being far more feminine (and passable) than you might think.  You're working with a great, slender body, a face that doesn't have any hugely masculine standout features, and your makeup is subtle.

Hair...

Jump on that yesterday.  Seriously, if it's starting to recede, get yourself to your family doctor and start taking finisteride (if you're ok with the potential side effects, most of which aren't a problem for guys who want to be girls), buy yourself some 5% topical minoxidil from your local pharmacy, and at the very least try to stop any further loss.  You may also want to start HRT asap, even if just a low dose or T-blockers only, as that'll also help halt the hair loss.

Love the nail polish, btw!

Hi Emzi - Emily. I think your look really gorgeous now!. I agree with others girls here that you need to go to a good beautician/beauty therapist and get your eyebrows shaped in a nice feminie curve (that is thinner on the outer edge of the eyebrow. Also you should get your eyelashes tinted (I get mine done blue black colour once a month as it really helps to bring out the definition.

I love the pictures - your dresses look really good on you. I would love though to see you in both dresses without the black woollen tights - do you have some nice sheer stockings or tights to show off your legs. Also a little bit of pink lipstick , outline your very pretty pout would look great on you. Are your ears pierced yet. If not get them done when you go full time. It will reinforce your femineity.

Greetings! I haven't posted in this thread for a bit, nor on the website at large, but work has kept me busy! I'm nearing my first year anniversary on FULL dose 'E' (had to work my way up from nearly zilch) and frankly I'm getting a lot more confident (at least, compared to the pictures I posted before!) If you have a perfect memory, and somehow recall my original photos, I was VERY gaunt (scary thin face); well, E has TANKED my metabolism (like, 20 lb. heavier), and I'm suddenly looking a LOT healthier! (I don't know though, maybe it's just the sudden sense of contentment coming from within! :p )

I still plan on getting ffs done, primarily for trach shave, rhinoplasty, and chin contouring (got skype call with Dr. Spiegal coming up, and saved a LOT of money working at my new job!) So i'm starting to feel pretty darn optimistic! I also realize I need to get my eyebrows done; just gotta work up the nerve! Muffinpants seems quite convinced with eyebrows I'd be passing, but as we all know it's hard to accept the advice when you know they love you (suspecting they're just trying to boost your self esteem).

if you get a chance, check out my album (link below); I took a few pics yesterday after work of my face at different angles, and am extremely curious to see if you all agree with me on the verdict of 'improvement'.

Oh yes your facial features really have softened up a lot compared to your older photos. I too think with your eyebrows done you'll pass easily. But many of us need FFS for our own peace of mind so I won't talk you out of it. If you feel you need FFS to make you feel better and look your best, I'm all for it and wish you my very best for great results.

Even though I don't necessarily need it I plan on FFS at some point in my future prolly as my last surgery. SRS will be my first as it's the most important to me, VFS will be my second after I've healed from SRS and have made my move back west as it will be easier to find a surgeon out there vs. here. Then after I've saved enough money for it(SRS and VFS/Trachea Shave are covered by my insurance) I'll have my FFS including a face lift, rhinoplasty, what little brow ridge I have removed(If there's enough to be) and especially neck lift so even though I pass daily without thinking about it I want to look my best as my younger years were taken from me. And if I can recapture a little of my youth through FFS it needs to be done.

I think your face is pretty femme now. You are certainly in male fail territory, especially should you get around to plucking those brows :P ;)

That said, as you are considering FFS, I think you have already picked out the only areas that I would look at improving. The trach shave is obvious. I can see wanting a rhinoplasty as there is a bit of a convex curve to the bridge. As for the chin, I can kinda see how you might want it done, but I'm on the fence as to whether it's really necessary. I think you'd be fine without it, but improving it may help a lot.

Handy, I'll second what Alaia said.  Minimal FFS would help, but don't go crazy.

Feminine eyebrows and hair style will help a ton.  High cheekbones, full lips, hair for days...yeah, You're in pretty good shape.

Okey, time for a reality check, no synthetic hair or other accessories, just me coming home from work.

About 6 weeks on blockers and 2 on E.

(I've starting writing this about 3 times, looked at the picture and discarded the post, this time I'm going to push the button)

I think you look good. I'm honestly not sure if I would read you as male or female. I feel like you could go either way based on what kind of outfit you're wearing, the rest of your body, and/or how you carry yourself. Are you also not wearing makeup? Because it totally looks like you are :o

This is basically my normal look right now. No makeup, no accessories, nothing special. I guess it's a bit androgynous, but meh, I have no idea how I'm coming off.

These will be the last pre-HRT pics I'll be posting here. The next time I post here, I'll be on hormones :D

I'm wearing makeup as I tend to do most days now for work, some eyeliner and mascara :)

I might try to do a full body shot at some point, might take a bit more courage ...
