Omg I just hit my right breast bud (and it also seems to be the smaller one) is this going to damage at tissues and inhibit growth??? So worried!!!! :(((((

No.  Your body is a lot more resilient than you think.

Hurts like heck though.?  Everything is fine, but sure is exciting isn't it.

My doctor only said "Don't squeeze them!".  Anything else should be fine so long as you're not bruised or bleeding. :P

While my breasts are sore all the time, for some reason they only get really rip-roaring painful around 4 am when I often wake up to use the bathroom. Stumbling around in the dark = door frame!  Hurts like hell then but no harm done.  At least after five months on Estrace they aren't hard buds any longer - there's some softening and fat padding to cushion the blow.

Never fear shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

eggy_nog, out of curiousity how long have you been on hormones?

As for me, I'm a little over 1 week on hormones now. There's noticeable little mounds in the breast area. They are quite soft too! Sometimes there's discomfort and itchiness, but it's not really bad.... yet

Wait till you catch them on the car door :o :o :o

Doing yoga and having to lie on your front...not pleasant at all! Mine aren't achingly sensitive any more but as soon as I put pressure on them they protest. I used to enjoy sleeping on my stomach, not any more!

I'm 2 months and 2 days :D I had palpable breast buds after the 1st week... Really unusual I know :/ The breasts seem to be growing slowly over time so it's excitinggg :D

A week? I'm almost a month in, albeit on a half-dose, and still nothing :(
There is no, 'One True Way'.
Pain shared is pain halved, Joy shared is joy doubled

Why do people say "grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding.

They take some getting used to. I learned the hard way to not lean through the car window at the drive-up teller, And to not carry boxes and stuff high up anymore. I am taking a break from Martial Arts for a while ( to save $$) but I can't imagine what sparring will be like now....if someone hits me in the chest, there's going to be Hell to pay....lol.

it gets substantially less painful as they grow

I hit one with a car door when they were first coming in... I about died

I keep hearing about the painful breast bud situation, but it didn't ever happen to me during transition.  I have a B cup thing going on now, but I keep wondering when this is going to happen to me.  Then I remembered.  This happened to me when I was 12.  I had moobs!

Yep, gentle is fine.  It was just that in my case I could almost immediately squeeze clear fluid out of the nipples once the development started.  This was kinda fascinating to me but my doctor was worried I might damage the developing glandular tissue.  Now I tend to just massage them every so often to keep the soreness down.  If I handle them too much in one go the nipples get irritated.

Thankfully my chest doesn't hurt much during the day because my electrolysis tech rests her forearm directly across my right boob for two hours straight!  Now that I've grown a little padding it helps in this situation.

I never got moobs but at the start of puberty I had extremely painful hard lumps behind the nipple.  These stung more than at any time during my current development.  They eventually went away completely but at the time I was absolutely terrified I was growing breasts.  I'm at least glad that transition has put me somewhat in control of this.  Had they happened before I knew what I wanted I would have been mortified because I was deathly shy at the time.

I had the clear fluid thing too! Although I never squeezed the actual breast bud, only just below it. It's stopped now and they seem to be growing so hopefully I didn't do any damage :P
