Luna that is wonderful news.

I don't quite need it yet but I'm thinking of getting some unmentionables and a nice outfit soon. Just thinking of myself in them takes so much weight off my shoulder its seems so Zen like.  Took most of my morning but I went clothes shopping online and have warm feelings all the way till payday when I can check out.

Even though I've had some terrible news lately after my grandfather died, there is a little bit of good that has come of it. My cousin, who takes care of most family affairs, has been talking with me. I managed to work up the courage to come out to her, and she's totally accepting. She's even going to help me talk with the rest of my extended family (since my parents have absolutely forbidden that... as if that changes anything). I'll be flying back to Oregon for the funeral in a few weeks, and I'm going to be really nervous about it. I'm just glad someone that my family respects finally has my back.

Getting a letter from the Department of Licensing that read,
"Congratulations, we have approved your request to update your gender identity and have changed your Washington driver record."

I'm legally Female now! I'm floating on air with a huge smile :)

Finding out that my insurance will pay for SRS (new WA state law ruling = discrimination if medically necessary treatments are "excluded").

Copay for hosp stay + surgery = $100
And...no deductible!

WOOT!!!!!

Congratulations Rachel! IMHO this is one of our major milestones to overcome during transition. Just proudly when having to show your ID without shame is one of the most endearing things. If you haven't done your SSA and other Documents yet these will come much easier for you now. Again, congratulations!! :icon_bunch: :eusa_clap:

Congrat's to you too Jess. I think it's great you've found a support group local. I wish I had some local support but it just doesn't exist where I currently live. Who knows, maybe I'll try starting one!

Again Jess, Congratulations!! :icon_bunch:

Also I forgot to mention earlier, I got myself 5 new pairs of leggings and two new bra's that are so soooo comfy last evening!. Now all I need is a new pair of wedges to replace my broken ones, lol!

Knowing you like I do I would drive to your place if you did that. There would NEVER be a dull moment! The good thing is SWAT teams need practice all the time to stay sharp, so the two bird and stone thingy applies!

That's the only drawback^^___^^, I'll be outing myself if I do. Right now everyone just accepts me as just another girl on my street. I'll have to think about this...... ???

Whoa, is that so? I'm currently in WA and if this is the case then that's a future consideration I won't have to worry about as much as I feared.

Wow, that is truly amazing, congrats!

Yeah, Google WA State Insurance Commissioner site, and there should be a notice on the main page...short version: because SRS is a medically necessary surgery, to exclude it from any publicly available policy amounts to gender-based discrimination...which is illegal in WA.

After that, it depends on what your insurance's policy does. Mine is rather good, $100 copay per hospilitalization, and paid in full. Most people would have a deductible as well.

But a deductible is boocoo better than the Full Monty Fee.
