Today... TOTALLY happy with my new drug insurance.  Instead of my Depo (and needles) costing me $134 each time I fill it, I am now getting it for $28!!

After all the usual chores of laundry, dusting and making dinner I am now getting a lesson in laying out a dress pattern from my Mom.

Yesterday I told some people from another office about my status and one of them sent me a gift card for Sephora and told me to get some of the good stuff.   ;D

Oh, I had a nice lipstick from Sephora in Ballerina Pink...  You'll love having the good stuff, I've got a little MAC, my lipstick from Sephora, and some spot foundation from Este Lauder for my eyes.  While you're at it go for one of the make-overs, and watch how it's done, then buy-buy-buy what ever you need.

What made me happy was technically last night, but I didn't get home until 1:30am this morning.  I saw my new therapist, who I semi-know through the sports car club, we worked a corner at a club race maybe 5 years ago.  At the end of our session, she told me how natural I look, and that when we booked the session, she thought I'd need coaching on femininity.  Well after the session, she welcomed me to sisterhood, and that she couldn't tell I ever was male: even after having meet me in casual circles before.  She told me I just look like a tall woman, which at 6'1" I really am.  Wow, can't wait to have Sprio and E help me along the way.

My Mum taught me about that too; - Mum was a seamstress by trade so she knew all the tricks of the trade.  :)

There is a lot of satisaction from making a dress from scratch. I loved my sewing room years ago & I made some nice pretty dresses. However GF's thrift stores like Goodwill are just loaded with nice clothes & dresses, beautiful things sometimes so cheap, barely ever worn. And to be honest you can buy things there much cheaper than buying materials, zippers, patterns, threads, sewing machines.... It's almost better for all of us to recycle what has already been made. So many women buy clothes that do not fit later after losing or gaining weight & clean out their closets.  Go shopping GF's.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

Getting more excited about VFS surgery with dr Kim this summer.

Home with the kids today (good Friday).

Looked in the mirror and did not see a trace of him at all. :)

My face is so smooth and hairless. Laser is working. :)

My Mom told me that she would never have asked to show me this skill when she thought of me as male. She had wanted to make this particular dress for years. When I came out she gathered the materials for my visit. She hasn't sewn in years. It is part of her welcoming me into the sisterhood.

I will probably not use the skill much myself. It is reminding me of cabinet making, too much math and precision, not really my bag. I definitely shop at thrift stores. I'm a penny pincher for one thing. Also, reducing my support for the companies that use virtual slave labour to make a profit on clothing manufacture is important to me.

It is just so touching to be able to bond with my Mom like this, I never thought I would get to have this.

In an odd way this makes me happy yet disgusted at how the world is so sexist.

I'm in Walmart, in the auto care section. I'm a car girl geek to the max, really. I know my way around gas and Diesel engines, small or large. I'm looking to get a couple cans of seafoam.

Anyway for the first time ever, someone (an employee) in the auto section asked me if I needed help. Wal mart employees have never asked me if I needed help, ever.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but the only thing different is that I'm presenting female.

No weird looks nothing....

I called up the electric company to cancel service and had this conversation:

ec rep: "Thank you for calling <the electric company>, how may I help you today?"
me: "Hi! I'd like to cancel my service."
rep: "Certainly ma'am!  I have your account information here. What is the name on the account?"
me: "<male name>"
rep: "That's the name I have.  Can you put <male name> on the phone?"
me: "I'm <male name>."
rep: "Ummmmm...."
me: "I'm transgender."
rep: "Ummmmm...."
me: (switching to male voice) "I'm transgender"
rep: "Okay, now you sound like a girl trying to be a guy.  I'm not sure I can do this."
me: (panicking and jumping for joy at the same time) "Is there anything you can do to verify my identity?"
rep: "Let me transfer you to my supervisor..."

(a simialar conversation ensues with the supervisor)
At the end of the conversation:

supervisor: "Ma'am I not so sure about this.  Against my better judgement, I'll allow you to cancel this account.  I'm just afraid you might be an ex trying to cancel <male name>'s account or something like that."

I guess I don't have to worry about my voice anymore. :)

^^^This made me smile so much :)

I got ma'amed on the phone for the first time since I was like 12-14 or so today and it made me feel good. I'm also at the 8 month mark as of today.

My ex, from my only long term relationship, had contacted me earlier this week on facebook. I had sent word through a mutual friend about my transition. I then sent a very long message back. She got back to me today. We had been best friends before she had developed a crush on me and the whole sorry relationship began. Now we're going to get together and talk for the first time in half a decade! I know we will never be best friends again but I will settle for closure!

It is things like this that reinforce my faith in myself and let me know that transition and coming out is the best decision I ever made.

Happy Easter Sunday to us all. Peace for all of us as we improve our lives to enjoy our natural gender, female.

My mom asked me to send a picture of myself to her so she could show my dad since he hasn't seen me since before I started to transition.  He does know that I'm transitioning though.  She just called me to tell me about this conversation:

<mom> Do you know who this is?
<dad> No, I have no idea who that is.
<mom> Look real close.
<dad> Nope, I've never seen that person in my life.
<mom> Are you absolutely sure?
<dad> Look, I swear I've never seen that person.  Who is it?
<mom> That's your daughter.
<dad> WHAT?!?!  No way!!!

I'm laughing *so* hard right now!

Was off my 'mones for a lil over a month recently. Been back on them for under two weeks and my scent 'down there' has gone from clearly very male back to nearly odorless/slightly feminine. 'Morning wood' has also lessened after it had come back with a vengeance. This all makes me a happy Ashley. :)
