I've been wondering this for a while.

My therapist and doctor both pronounce it '-dial' like dialing a phone number.
I always thought it was more like a combination of 'perennial' and 'creole'
At least that is how I thought the chemical suffix was pronounced.

Anyone else have input? Proper pronunciation or just opinion?

I always pronounced it -di-ol (ol like on doll). can check what my drug reference says on it.
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.

I say es-tray-dee-all, but the pharmacist always says es-trah-di-all. I've heard it both ways :P

My family doctor says all his medical terms in old English because that was how he was taught. I find it odd as he pronounces estradiol differently as well  :P.

I took a course in medical terminology as part of my schooling. I was taught
ess-tra-DAI-awl.
di means 2, ol means it has an alcohol group, and other chemicals with two alcohol groups are also pronounced DAI-awl, at least in America :)
