Ms Grace

Didn't a trans woman from Israel win Eurovision a few years ago?

I absolutely loved it, and didn't find it offensive at all. Courageous indeed, but the performance was excellent.

A little gender->-bleeped-<- here and there is good for the world.

LMAO... I love you way with word Jill... I totally agree with this statement. People get to wrapped up in boy / girl thing. Especially cis people. good to rattle their cage a little...

A warning.

We do not miss-gender people on this site.

QuoteBut we were already fans of Conchita before we saw her sizzle on stage. Earlier in the day we caught up with her to discuss how long it takes her to put on her face, what it's like to swim with a painted-on beard, and the fact that she is not transgender. "[Dana International] is a transgender person and it's such a huge decision and it's just incredible what you have to go through to become a woman," Conchita tells us. "But me as a drag artist, this is just dressing up and painting."

Tom only uses female pronouns when referring to Conchita. She's his character. He isn't transgender. He has made that quite clear in multiple interviews; this is just one.

My mum was asking me how this woman can grow a beard like that. I had to tell her Conchita was a drag queen.

Kinda reminds me of when Andrej Pejic was on the news. Everyone was talking about gender.

I will touch a 100 flowers and not pick one.

Yes, I imagine it's a bit like Barry Humphries and Dame Edna

Yes, Dana International, 1998.

And there have been a few more dr->-bleeped-<-erformers the last 5  or 6 years, can't remember their names and what countries they represented, but they didn't have a mission like Conchita has.

http://zagria.blogspot.nl/ tells you all about T-related ESC contestants etc over the past 10 or so years.

True.

For me, the song was poor and was not a winner. Malta was the best followed by the Netherlands :-)

No such thing...the media all over Europe speak about the bearded lady and no one mentions the word MTF or transsexualism in general...because that's totally irrelevant.

It's quite clear people won't confuse her with MTF or transsexualism because she is just what she is: a DQ, and a very good looking, a very well dressed and a good singer at that :-)

And this gorgeous person has a mission too :-)

I'm glad to hear that people haven't been mixing up the two! That's encouraging.
