Travelling to Thailand from US-Nervous!

Hi all,
So, I'm afraid of heights and planes. However, that is not going to stop me from going to Suporn to complete my SRS. For those who have traveled to Thai from the US, how was that experience, which airline did you use, and would you recommend it to others?

I've just started researching flight costs and airlines and there are so many I'm confused. I want to choose the most comfortable, safest, and cheapest, LOL. Duh, who doesn't?

I'm from the East Coast, Washington DC area. A couple airlines that appeal to me so far are Emirates (United Arab based) and United Airlines. Emirates makes a stop at Dubai, not sure how I feel about that. Sounds scary, lol. And United stops at Tokyo, Japan. And there are some flights that don't make any stops and go directly to Thai.

Cheapest will almost always involve stops. On the way out not a problem, but the way back you it would be best to fly direct. Thai Airlines seem to be considerate to post op people so if taking economy class they may allow you to use more than one seat... If not full and once in the air. Or you bite the bullet and go business class.

Others from USA will be able to advise good routes if doing stop overs

If you cant afford business class see if they have a premium economy class which is what I used from thailand back to the uk that made things comfortable dont use cattle class.

When I went last year  used yahoo travel,  about 3 months maybe  less in advance and was able to get a fairly decent cost (1600ish) and was able to choose delta at the time I bought the ticket,  and flew economy.  They were quite nice and gave  me extra pillows to and from,  even with me carrying on a pillow.,  in fact I ended up with 5 total and a free blanket.  If I were to go again (I'm sure I will at some point)  I'll fly delta.    Also it may count but I had other reason for so  many pillow (back problems)  but they still were very nice,  even got complimentary mixed drinks.

I travel to Bangkok all the time and NOW is a good time to fly there as the flights are quite empty since the Military coup has deterred many visitors and there are all sort of deals. I suggest that you try Thai Airlines and I believe that United is partners with them on mileage. Thai business class is the best deal going so try that out. I have been to Dr Suporns office a couple of times in Chunbury, I think he is the best. Have fun and enjoy.

Also, take the Europe route as so many flight leave from there.
