Don't forget that your shoulders can also get narrower. :) I started off at like 18" shoulders and now it's around 14". My hips are actually around the same width as my shoulders these days, but I don't think it was primarily hip growth that caused that!

(And I definitely have more of a waist now, though I'm still pretty plump. If I can't be skinny, I'll settle for curvy.)

Thank you that.

Yes, it's the shoulders that get me down and I want the hips to balance things up.  Hopefully a bit of hip growth and a bit of muscle loss will get me closer.  Where do you measure for the shoulder measurement?

My hips were a wee bit wider than is considered normal, but not wide enough to be that noticeable. So, as soon as I started eating more, apparently it all went down into hips... or butt. Butt kinda spurted out first and then hips followed - I can totally relate to what Grace said about "gentle hourglass" but I really need to loose about 1 kilo of male fat deposits around my waistline to make it more pronounced. I dunno if that is common experience or not, but I am not complaining (maybe that is to compensate for still quite tiny bewbs, lol).

Thanks Emily :)

My butt has been doing the same, at the back on top and underneath, so I hope my hips catch up like yours did.  I'd much rather have feminine hips than large boobs.  I've always been envious of female hips.

Totally so :). If one wants bigger bewbs... there is BA surgery for that. But with hips it all gets much more complicated :).

It sure would be nice. I'm a little fuller but not much. 9 months full time HRT plus lots of hrt earlier in life. Breasts are growing nicely, body hair is reducing nicely............. however my hips are going nowhere it seems.
mtF, mid 50's, always a girl since childhood, HRT (Spiro, E & Fin.) since 8-13. Hormone levels are t at 12 & estrogen at 186. Face lift & eye lid surgery in 2014. Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck & some facial surgery May, 2015. Life is good for me. Love long nails & handsome men! Hopeful for my GRS & a nice normal depth vagina maybe by late summer. 5' 8", 180 pounds, 14 dress size, size 9.5 shoes. I'm kind of an elegant woman & like everything pink, nice & neet. Love my nails & classic Revlon Red. Moving back to Florida, so excited but so much work moving

Noticed a big bump recently, probably starting at around 16 months and still going. Probably also helps that I've gained a bit of weight. It's just crazy how much more of it now goes to my upper outer thighs. The difference when sitting or laying flat on the couch and such is kind of crazy to me at this very moment (looking down to a hip that is truly squashing outwards).

I have a small bit of tummy fat now, too, where I used to gain all of my weight. But now my legs look extremely soft, absolutely zero indentations or angular appearance. Thank you E gods!

Still thinking I might do a fat transfer to hips somewhere down the line, but there is seemingly a ton of research going on with that right now... So I am holding off for a bit and waiting until they figure out a way to not have the fat reabsorb. There have been some great advancements using stem cells, but it is still considered experimental and only for breasts. They have however managed to cut the resorption rate down to I think about 20 percent... I'd have to look it up again to be sure and I didn't have access to the full article. All I know is it seems promising to me, and I'm happy to wait for something better; I've heard after T factories are removed it is possible to feminize even further... so I want to give that as much of a chance as well.

That sounds like my experience so far.  We have to live in hope :)

And Jenny, thank you, that sure does sound interesting.  Firstly that the hip development came after so much time on HRT, and secondly about the research.  I'd like to read the paper too if you have a link.

Joan : Do you know, I have no idea how the shoulder measurement worked. :) My wife's the precise one in the family; she researched it and measured me, a few months ago.

Are you talking about the articles on the CAL (cell assisted lipotransfer) method? I was looking at that as an option for me in the future if it turns out that I need it. One thing I read read was that it doesn't work in large quantities. (Usually no more than 1-2 cup sizes for a BA, and I didn't find anything on hips)

4 almost 5 months here, and while I have seen amazing breast development, very little on my hips except tiny amounts of fat. We shall see how long it takes, I have a good feeling about hips.

Sorry Jenna, I just realised I used the wrong name. I feel really bad about that :(

If only I could lose a bit of that muscle at the tops of my arms. At least I lost another lb this week :)

This seems to be a common thread. Initial breast development with the hips - if they do develop - lagging far behind. I wonder if it's the same for girls going through puberty?

Yeah it was something like that. All I could read was the summary, but there were several articles with similar studies.

I'm extremely interested in it! So if you have any info please do share :)

I envy many of you who have gotten great hips and thin waist. The breasts are one thing, but it would be nice to have the whole package. Being overweight, the "love handles" hide much of the shape, if there is any at all. Hoping to reduce so that I will see the real shape.

I have big hips but it's not fat, it's bone, there's like hip dips there, they drive me crazy tbh :-\ my hips haven't really ever changed though no matter what hormones I have

I do have to say that I was skeptical at first of how much it would change my lower body, thinking that some kind of surgery would be the only way. I still have some skepticism that HRT will be enough to reach my goals without spending my life in a gym- I guess I am just not a gym type of person? Anyway...

After 18 months of HRT, I have yoyo'd between very skinny and +15lbs TWICE now in my transition. I started very skinny & moderately muscular. The first time I gained 15lbs during month 5-6- it all seemed to go to my abdomen (or exactly where it used to). So I wasn't too happy with that! Then, I lost all the weight during months 9-12 and slowly kept losing it through month 14.. getting down to my lowest weight in 3 years. It did seem like some of the thigh fat stayed, but not much. This was concurrent with when I had FFS.

Then recently (around month 16-current) my appetite increased, and I listened... So, I've yoyo'd back up to +13. This time though, MUCH more of it has gone to my legs, butt, and hips. I mean I can hardly believe it. Honestly sometimes it's hard for me to stop touching myself :o  My legs squash out around the sides and hips when I sit now, it is a VERY noticeable difference while sitting.

But I think that some kind of procedure will be in my cards someday, hopefully with an improved way of doing fat transfer.. I don't have much fat to work with, and I wanna make it count instead of just reabsorb :P I'll be first in line if they figure out how to use stem cell fat transfers for hips. Tbh, for me it is almost as (if not more) important than SRS- but I'm not letting it hold me up waiting around.

Wow, that's great!  :D I guess it varies a lot. I spent a year on a bad dose of HRT and my body stayed the same, then I started sublingual and gained like 20 lbs in probably only half a year. It's been a really emotional change for me because it mostly just went to my waist and belly. And made my legs stockier, but there's still this line under my belly where I simply don't store any fat. It was like a more exaggerated version of this I just liked my figure sooo much better before HRT, when I was thin. But, on the plus side it made me finally able to appreciate that I had mostly a great figure before, which up until now I never believed. Now, I am determined to get thin again!  So guess that's a 2nd time for me too.

Ooooh, I am envious.  I've always been small and skinny so I am really not expecting hips to arrive.  I fix those deficiencies with clothing for squarish or inverted triangle bodies.

Here's a really good site for dressing according to your body shape and colouring, by the way:

My wife has found that there is a bit more to grab down there over the last month or so.

Jan '13 to July '13 -  Low dose E and finasteride
July '13 - May '14 - Increased E, finasteride and dutasteride
May '14 - present - E and dutasteride only.
