Shall I continue now or later?

Hello everyone,
      Currently just my friends and a few family members know of my situation. My question is though do I continue transition and put off medical school for a few years or do medical school and restart my transition at a later time. I would love to just continue and go in to Med school as planned but some of their bylaws frown upon that. I am 22 so I still have some time but this has given me enough anxiety thinking about it. Thank you for your opinions and sorry if I am in the wrong section.

Well, it's pretty common knowledge that hormones will work better the earlier you take them. If you waited until finishing medical school, you would probably miss the window of opportunity for hip development, and things like male pattern baldness may rear their ugly head (depending on your genetics). On the other hand, having the money from the kinds of jobs you could get after going to medical school would make transition a lot easier, assuming transitioning on the job wasn't a problem. But what are these bylaws that you are talking about? If they are something that would prevent you from transitioning while in medical school, wouldn't that be discrimination?

what better way to prepare yourself for transition than going to medical school. maybe you could e-mail Dr. McGinn  the surgeon she'd probably have solid advice

If you can get into Med School and find a way to pay for it, you will be much better off in the long run.

Both Marci Bowers and Christine McGinn did that and I think they are both beautiful and successful.

It will be a much easier transition with the letters M.D. after your name.

A lot of the typical transgender problems can be fixed with a fat bank account.

Yes Miyuki it is a form of discrimination but one I do understand. Med school is going to be challenging and they want one's focus to be strictly on the material at hand. Stephaniec That is a great suggestion thank you I had not thought of that. Randi I am not worried about the fat bank account but yes I have been accepted into a few medical schools UCLA and SABA being two of them. Thank you again for the suggestions.
