I was going to post a "downer" thread and then saw the joy in the posts around, and decided it is far better to do the opposite.

What gifts of validation have you experienced when you have gone out in public authentic to your core presentation, or just plain out in a way you could be read?

Last night, and I spoke of this a moment ago on another thread but this one will spin it 180 degrees, last night I was out with my wife and the most transphobic of my daughters (she has GAD, so I get it, her disorder wreaks havoc with acceptance since I was always her rock) - but I was out and they wanted an ice cream.  I pulled up to a mcDonalds drive through and handed the girl the cash, and she said "OMG what beautiful nails, they're so shiny! Wish mine looked like that."  This in front of my wife, who cannot handle me being out.  She can when not in public, but she has trouble when out.  She made a comment but it was weak.... she knows I don't compromise on clear polish and nails, its the only trans representation I have outside unless my shirt is tight...

This kid in the drive through did more for me than anyone else has.  Just a genuine "that's so cool" attitude for the genderqueer driver.

So, what nice validations have you experienced that you would like to share, for the good of all here... this should be a nice feel good thread.

Love to all here, nails out and slowly growing (I broke 9 out of 10 on a project >:(  ), hair growing sooooo slowly, and out to many now that know me.

Its so cool when you out yourself and the response is "Oh that's so cool".  Happened last Friday on the job too.... came out to a coworker.  But I choose them carefully, wish I had more guts, but baby steps are still steps forward, and ass..oles will be themselves, won't they.

Blessings.

SJ Satinjoy, blended genders right now, my button would have to be one that's 3D and changes every time you move the angle, as do I....

Morpheus: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the red pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the little blue pills - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes

Sh'e took the little blue ones.

Funny that you mentioned McDonald's as I am a first assistant manager at one. One my in to work sometimes I have to the bank to pick up the previous days deposit bags. One of the tellers just loves my purple street shoes and tells me everytime she is there when I pick up the bags. For the most part I just thought she was just being nice but one day I had to go pick the bags while working and I didn't bother to change to the purple shoes so I wore my black work shoes. As I was leaving she noticed I didn't have my normal purple shoes on and  said she was disappointed that I didn't have my them on. Funny this brought a smile to my face. Well to be honest every time I pick up the bags and she says she likes my shoes I smile. makes a nice start to my work day.

On my days off I usually paint my nails and also get some compliments on those as well. Which surprises me every time as right now while I wear mostly clothes from the female aisles I am sure they see me as male. Most likely a gay male.

Received this email from a long time friend today, it kinda sums up what I have received from all the people I know.

   Patty,

Long ago I stopped judging or at least tried to stop judging.  If the individual or individuals had no say in the issue then there is no way anyone can judge.  I am greatly impressed and admire the hell out of you for sharing this and being willing to confront the issue straight on.  As we all go thru life we are affected by a multitude and ,limitless number of factors most we have no control over.  All we can do is bob and weave and adjust and deal with the issues.  You are a true survivor and an excellent role model of how to deal with life no matter how many curve balls are thrown at you.  In my own little world I have had to adjust going from physically being able to make two Olympic teams to dealing with two arthritic knees a hip and back.  Life just keeps coming at both of us and everyone on this planet.  Every inhabitant has to deal with their world.  You are obviously very successful at dealing with yours.  It is my honor to know you and I appreciate you sharing this with me.

I often get complements for having such a youthful look about me and nice skin on my face. All of which is attributable partially to good genes but mostly to the effects of HRT over a period of years and using women's facial care products and moisturizers. I just turned 71 in August but you never see people that age dressing youthfully and with color like I dress. Old people always dress their age and therefore look like really old people and it makes them act like old people with their dour looks and cranky dispositions.
