Adrian, this is such an interesting thread!
Now, all my friends are pressuring me to abandon the almost-square male wallet and go to a longer female version. But I am resisting, and it's purely because almost every single handbag I have (that's a "purse" in American) has an internal pocket that I swear seems to have been designed for a male wallet. Many of these pockets even have a zipper, so I can only assume it's for extra security.
This leads me to an interesting question: has this internal pocket been provided for us, or rather so that our menfolk can ask us to carry their wallets for them?

Lol, I finally found the thread Julia! But I think you might be onto something. In a previous life, I rarely had to carry my male wallet, simply because my gf had this ever so handy little pocket in her handbag. In fact, it seemed to be in most if not all of them. And now the handbags I have also have this most perfectly shaped internal pocket. And yes, these too have this added security feature - not that my local mugger is perplexed when confronted with an internal zipper - but it's added security none the less.
So I do wonder, were female wallets, purses here in Oz, ever smaller and square in shape? Or was this simply just for our menfolk?
Yes, an interesting thread.
