Hi i am Elin. MtF 20 years.

This is my first time posting here but 've been reading the forums for a while and just registered myself.

So to the point i'm 2 month on hrt oral premarin. Do you think this is ok? From what i'd read gets me lost a little.

First welcome to the forum. I am sure a moderator will send you the site rules and terms of use. But, please delete the dosage information from your post as it is against the rules. Also, please consult a doctor - self medication is extremely dangerous.

Sorry girls i'd read those rules and i wasn't trying to advice others about methods or doses i just wanted a little advice from you to be able to tell mi doctor because i strongly believe that he knows if nothing, very little.

If someone would like to guide me a little, pm me thank you (if it is not againts the rules).

I recommend communicating that to your doctor. If you don't feel comfortable with them or you don't get them to deal with the dosing to get you better results then changing doctors would be recommended.  Having a doctor that is trans friendly is extremely helpful. If you have been self medicating then you need to let you doctors know because when you get on it through them they will need that info plus if your on any other medications it's important to know as well.

No i am not self medicating, i do not even take painkillers but i will try to ask him if we can raise the dosage a little and see if it gets better. I can't choose another one because of where i live.

The big warm welcome to Susan's, Elin, you will find that these forums have many wonderful people here that have a vast amount of experiences. There is a wealth of knowledge available to you and some tremendous resources. Everything is right at your fingertips, so pull up a chair, relax and let your fingers do the walking.

As far as your doctor, is this doctor, a general practitioner or an endocrinologist. An Endo is the one that is best trained to guide you with hormones. They would be able to prescribe the right medication based on your health and any medical conditions you might have. They would also monitor to make sure all your blood levels are not changing to drastically, but the appropriate levels are being maintained to give you the feminization that you are looking for. I really do hope this answers your question. I wish you nothing but the best of luck on your journey and may the Angels always look upon you and guide you on your path.

Premarin is not used anymore because of the problems it comes with. It is a synthetic hormone and not as safe or powerful as bio identical hormones such as Estradiol. I would suggest educating yourself about the various forms and get off the synthetics. Please show your research to your physician as it may help him as well in prescribing current meds.

I didn't really wanted to go this deep but its ok  you're all really nice.

I don't pay for them i have no one that supports me and i have no job so i go to a public center if i can call it like that which takes care of trans people. I can't choose what i get and i'm now kind of sad to know i could have something better for my body.

Well, technically premarin is a naturally occuring hormone... just not in humans. Premarin is made from Pregnant Mares Urine. So it's basically horse estrogen. That doesn't mean it doesn't work but it's a bit foreign to the human body.

As far as potency goes it is quite potent, and is given in lower doses than 17-beta-Estradiol or other bioidenticals.

However you are right, it is less commonly used in modern practice.

There are just much more safer and effective meds for transition without the side effects of Premarin. If it is all you can get though just make sure you get regular lab work to be safe. Your health is the most important thing to have.
