After receiving your script for your hormones did you hesitate taking them or did you pop a man and keep on going like nothing happened. For me, I was super excited and couldn't wait to get home to take my first dose. Although I'm taking mine in pill form. I call mine the boy busters and the girl juice just wondering, does anybody else have nicknames for this.

I will get my first dose of E next Wednesday. It will be a injection so I won't be able to hesitate. But the second I will have to do myself. So I am thinking the way I am I might hesitate a little. Spiro and progesterone will be in pill form. Thinking about it right now I do not think I will hesitate. But with me you never know. No nicknames yet. But yours sound good so I might use those. Lol

As soon as I got my prescription I happily crossed the street and bought my hormones at the first drugstore I saw hahaha I spent the entire day excited, knowing that things were finally gonna change :) didn't even think twice haha
I actually still have my first box at home, had to keep it :P

I didn't hesitate, but mine were in the patch form before I switched to self injections. The endo doesn't want to take the added risk of the hormones being metabolized twice through the liver do to the cardiovascular of doing that is higher. I haven't, but maybe someday I will nickname them.

So happy for you. :)

May I ask what made you decide to go the Pill route?

I'm assuming the Endo will know what the best route is based on the persons bloodwork ect.

I'm on pills too :) their nicknames used to change every month or so xD.

@Jessika :

Many endocrinologists will start you on pills because of the lower cost. They often won't suggest others method if your bloodworks are fine and don't show any liver problems dealing with it.

No waiting for me. That little blue pill was in my belly pretty darn shortly after I got the script.

Yeah we heard lot of "pushed" information about "this or this" mothods being better or less invasive than another, so it's becoming hard to choose which one is the best for us.

In my case I can't use patch because I'm sportive and they won't stay on my skin whatever I triedand injection is not covered by my insurance.

The choice was pretty easy for me :)

No hesitation for me, I rushed to drugstore after I got my script and took the pill while I was still in the drugstore xD

I too had that spiro (my man away) ingested as soon as I could and the patches in place.  The conventional wisdom is that patches (my external ovaries) may be somewhat safer for oldies like me.  They can be problematic, as previously noted by Liz, due to the adhesives.  Hot and sweaty workouts and hot tubs are a glue challenge so i am thinking about the injectables.  I waited too long and worked too hard to get there and hesitate.  The next week was kind of anticlimactic as, you know, nothing happened other than a calming effect.

1) Floated down the stairs at the doctors office
2) Looked at the chemist underneath the office on the corner looked at my script.
3) Sprinted to my chemist in the center of the city to give them my script*
4) Fabulous lovely blue pill was in my mouth before I had even left the store

*in Australia we have a system where after you spend a certain amount on listed medications, for the rest of the year you receive a dramatic reduction in price (PBS). These records are easier to maintain if you only go to one place to pick up all your prescription medications. Hence step 3

So excited I almost ate the written prescription the doc gave me right there and then in her office as soon as she handed it to me, before the ink was even dry.  Managed to wait until I had exchanged it for the drugs about thirty minutes later, but they were in me before I pulled out of the parking lot.

Like, who really waits???

There was another thread like this a few months ago, I know I read at least one post where they waited quite some time before taking the first dose.

Six months ago I got my first prescriptions from the doctor and headed straight to the Walmart pharmacy and handed it in. When I was picking up the filled prescriptions about 15 minutes later the clerk was doing her typing on the register and such and asked if I had any questions, then she kinda looked at me and seemed to realize all that estradiol was for me.  She said to hold on and took the bottles of spiro and estradiol back to ask the pharmacist something. I couldn't hear what was said but I could see the light come on as the pharmacist seemingly explained things to her. She came back and handed me the filled prescriptions.

I took the first dose in the Walmart parking lot.

The choice between pills or injection was completely mine. I was offered the injectable and decided to wait on that for now, I don't know, Maybe someday I will switch to injectable, but I take other medications anyway, so it was no big deal to me. Plus there is a little bit of a cost factor.

I picked up my script, drove home and took it right away.  Part of me still wished that I wasn't actually a transsexual and that the estrogen would just make me feel even worse.  I still was very unsure of myself at that point, but two hours after that first dose, I felt SO MUCH BETTER.  I never wanted to go a day without it ever again.  I found myself smiling for no reason, and what was this sweet but strange emotion? OMG, I was happy!

Yeah, I call it "girl juice" as well.  I do the cream, but I suppose if I took it in pill form, I'd call it the "Jill Pill".

I'm only on Spiro right now, and will be starting E when I've ramped up to the right dosage. I got my prescription electronically in the middle of a home exam, so I just took a detour to a pharmacy, and then took the pill while riding the subway from downtown to campus. At that time, I had waited so long for this, that it no longer really felt like a big thing, if that makes any sense - there was nothing to consider, I knew I needed it, and it was just good to finally get something to get this poison out of my body. It felt as matter-of-course as taking my daily vitamins.
