Tonight I attended a lecture by Laverne Cox, transsexual actress and activist, at my local Midwestern University.
The speech was about what I expected. What was most interesting to me was the overwhelming support she received. Due to popular demand the lecture was moved from the 500 seat student theater to the performing arts center.
The new venue has 2254 seats and every seat was filled. She was welcomed very warmly and received several standing ovations. As you may know she was featured on the cover of the June 9, 2014 issue of Time magazine.
Have no doubt, the acceptance of LGBTQI people is growing among our educated youth.
