eyebrow waxing what to say

Getting eyebrows waxed tomorrow and would like androgynous style but would go female if they cant andro but.. what would I say to the technician for this?

Well what I said, I was still presenting male at the time. 'Hi, I'm transgender and I'm changing my appearance, could you give me a feminine brow shape?'

She did and then showed me how to use mascara to highlight my brows and if I wanted help with eyemake up.

Beauty salons in my experience have been great.

I told them I wish to present as female

Also remember your there to give them a sale. Don't be afraid to go to another salon if they make you feel uncomfortable

I really don't wanna sound mean but should I find an English speaking one then? Neither of the two my gf use speak English that well

Well you need someone that you communicate your wishes too!!

I had a very similar experience as Cindy my first time in. "I am trans, I want a more feminine look. I need all the help you can give."

Beauty technicians, hair stylists, manicurists, waxers... etc. are like therapists, it is harder to get what you want from them if you don't just tell them. They booked an appointment with you after all, so chances are they want to get your continued visits as well.

You can always ask around or check yelp for the best reviews. I have a thing about communication, especially when I get my hair done, I am real specific and nuanced about certain things. I love it when I find someone who can get what I mean and still be creative in their own way on top of that.

I booked into a nice salon i found on the internet via reviews, booked in, told them i was trans, got some nice clothes dressed as a girl and went. i had to park miles away so was a nerve wracking walk there, but the ladies were SUPER nice and they did a great job of putting me at ease. it was a lovely experience, and although the difference is only small, i love the way they look! i havent started HRT so small things still feel like progress. a nice step on the way. i just go out as a girl a lot now and eyebrows helped a lot with confidence!

I will second what Tori and alex said.

I went to my hairdresser when I was a crew cut grey haired scared guy. I'm now a lovely auburn haired woman with hair down to my shoulders. That my hairdressers love me and care for me is just so obvious.

Similarly I use to have to get waxing prior to HRT, the girls in the salon still greet me when I walk past the shop and even ask me in for a coffee to have a chat about what girls chat about

Fear holds us back when so many beauty therapists are in the field because they enjoy helping women be beautiful. And most women like to look and feel beautiful and be pampered for a while, I think it is a genetic thing

The stylist I go to knows I'm trans, she is fine with it and has been pretty supportive. My hair is still a too short to do a more feminine androgynous style (btw, I'm still looking for suggestions in this area). I also have my eyebrows waxed. The first time, I simply had her clean things up, but the next time, I chose a slightly more feminine shape.  Try slowly changing the shape, so people you are not yet out to do not find out by seeing your hyper-feminine eyebrows and so you can find a shape that you feel fits your face. Also, for any guys who happen to be viewing the thread, I do not think most women find big bushy sloppy eyebrows attractive (speaking for myself, I do not go for the "elderly 60 minutes anchor" look) 😉

I would just ask for a thin eyebrows. Your brave if you can do eyebrow waxing. I personally do threading.

I get my chest waxed, and last time I asked to do my eyebrows. I got scared and asked for a more manly shape. I have such big, bushy eyebrows and I have been scared to try to shape them myself. After the wax, while still pretty thick, they did look a lot better and I can see the shape in them a bit better. I have been slowly plucking away to try to avoid too much notice at work. Looking back I should have just had them done how I wanted, who cares what the people at work think. Good luck!

Congrats! Just going and doing it is the main thing.

My therapist had lots of little things on my list for me to experience, in no particular order.

First eyebrow trim.
First manicure.
First makeover.

Etc. Going and getting it done can help soooo much. 🙂

I once went to a eyebrow place in the mall...told the lady there "I wanted eyebrows that look like a woman's."

She asked, "What do women's eyebrows look like?" (There were half-dozen posters on the wall of female models  )



Yes, I told her, and got it done. It was ok...but I never went back there again.
