A friend of mine opened for Deep Purple last night, hung out with them and even played with their gear after soundcheck.

Yes, I'm jealous.

The other day, something made me ask our county commissioner how he thought a cow would vote if they could vote. After actually thinking about it, then telling me why the cow wouldn't vote republican or democrat, he settled on libertarian. And that's one of the many reasons I will keep voting for him, even though he runs on a republican ticket.

USA Gold non-filters. go figure. I live in a hardcore republican area. And really, the Green party might have an issue with the methane that cows produce.

When I write, I get so bogged down in the function, rhetoric, and genre of the text that I lose track of the contents of the message.

I need to learn to self-censor a little less and not fuss over elegance. Authenticity now!!

For someone who is severely allergic to cats, this piece of information is quite disturbing (even if observed at an unusually late date).

Maybe!  But to be fair, I usually wear t-shirts (even when I'm not at conferences)...

I just investigated a weird sound in my bathroom.  I wonder how long I've been sharing a toothbrush with my cat...?

The US Postal Service clearly needs better help.

I ordered a birthday gift for my wife through Amazon.  For some reason they sent it certified mail and it required a signature.  Of course, when it was to be delivered I was out running errands and instead I got a card saying that I needed to pick it up in person.  So I stood in a line that didn't move this morning, presented the card, showed my ID and  guess what?  The idiot clerk told me, "Sorry.  This is for J. F." your ID says Gillian.  Sorry."

"J is for Jill.  It's short for Gillian."
"Is not for you."
"Yes, it is.  I don't spell it 'Gill', because people would pronounce it wrong.  I spell the short version with a 'J'."
"Sorry, J. F. needs to pick this up."
"That's me.  If you won't give it to me, go get your supervisor and have them explain this to me."
*supervisor comes out after 5 minutes or so*
"What is the issue here?"
"I just want my package.  Let's see, I clearly had the key to my mailbox, got this card out of it, followed instructions, went to pick it up, showed an ID with the right address and last name on it, and explained that Jill is just short for Gillian. What is the problem here?  My dad is named William, but he goes by Bill with a 'B'."
"No problem.  Sign here."

Damn, I'm glad my legal name change went through.  I'd sure hate to have tried to pick it up with my old ID. *facepalm*

That's why I like my small town. I go to the post office, she knows me, never show id to sign for registered packages.

And oddly enough, the supervisor wants me to train some new lady in paperwork and opening and cash register stuff so she can work at another store. Apparently, they think I do a great job with the paperwork and such and do things the way they want it done at the office. The aggravating part is having to slow myself down and explain what I do and how I do it. So much I do is automatic for me and slowing down to think about it can be hard for me.

Same here, - I couldn't stand living in a large city again.

Sounds way too familiar.  I have issues leaving the house.

I'm thinking that if I don't plant the shrubs I bought yesterday soon, they'll die on me.
