First, let me thank this forum for letting me register.  I am a medical practitioner and writing my second novel.  I have worked with many MTF people in various stages of their quest.  I never had the courage at the time to just ask them some questions, and realized how badly and hatefully they were treated by co-workers, and people in general.

My novel includes a young MTF who has had breast surgery, and is on HRT, awaiting saving enough money for his final surgical procedures, to have male organs removed, and female organs created.

I am trying to be as sympathetic to his character as I can, while portraying the daily hassles he goes through in his transition to becoming her, she in the story.  I am using a filipino, named Paluan, who goes by Paulie as a male, soon to be Polly after completion of surgery.  Paulie's boss is homophobic, extreme conservative, and treats Paulie terribly, but Paulie is afraid of filing a sexual harassment action, needing the job to pay for life, surgery, medications etc.

If any members here would be comfortable sharing personal stories of similar events, it might help my novel have more of a ring of truth, and help spread the message of humanity, caring, and love that all of us need and deserve.  Straight old guys like me, and people who are choosing to reassign their apparent birth genders alike.

Peace, and thanks.

Me. :)
