I was looking at pics of Curt Kobain.. a rock and roll star who died tragically from suicide.  He had some pretty bad drug issues and other things in life that led him to do it.. very sad.
Anyway, I saw something on TV about him.. and barely remembered who he was so I went to Wiki and read the story of his life.
Then when looking at pictures of Curt there was on pic with the words below,"Id rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not".

That is so amazing and touched me especially being a trans woman and worried about acceptance from others.
Its a profound statement because you see, I was loved all my life for who I am not. Everyone misses the old me but loves the new me.  I know there will be some.. not many in my circle of life that will hate me for who I am.. and so what.. I am who I am but I would much rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not.
Its really about being true to ones self.. instead of true to what others think you should be..

I don't know what prompted him to say that.. but those words have such amazing meaning in life.. especially to those who are different than others.
I hope some of you find something meaningful about that statement..
I am sure some of you have seen it but for me this is the first time.
Love ya,

Not to throw cold water on your topic, but that's not his quote as far as I know.  :)

Well actually he is the one who said it in that way.
He got the phrase from Marilyn Monroe who said"Its better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you're not." Marilyn Monroe
So Curt just changed it a little..

A great quote, no doubt. I believe this is the author:

It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for something you are not.

Still a good quote -despite the author's identity. :)
I like it!
Some people say I'm apathetic, but I don't care.

Ok ok ok..!.. Just kidding Devlin,
That is interesting.. Amazing how two passionate people about their lives that were famous used it in their lives.   Shows the power of the message.

I love the quote, whomever the author may be! Also, Kurt was great, I still remember coming home from school and learning of his death. But more so, learning to like punk music because of him. Ok, learning to like punk because Weird Al covered his hit song Smells Like Teen Spirit which is actually something his (Kurt's) friend Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill wrote about him on a wall with spray paint. Punk rock became my tribe and kept me alive many times, it is good to have an outlet for rage...

A better Kathleen Hanna quote "...GIRLS TO THE FRONT!"

Wanna know something really cool:
All four of these amazing artists died at age 27:
Kurt Cobain
Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin
Jim Morrison

The Doors and Nirvana are in my top five groups of all time.
Did you know, that the song "LA Woman" has lyrics: Mr. Mo Jo Risin' is an anagram of Jim Morrison?
Jim came up with the lyrics just minutes before recording the song.

I dont know anymore.

I just dont know.... love hate.... does it matter? Woman? Man?

Its just a body.

It doesnt matter what anyone say. Or what they think.

I guess all that matter is what you think.  Because at the end of the day... we just have ourselves.

You can add Amy Winehouse to that list. Everyone of them a tragic loss to music.

I remember with Kurt Cobain passed away while I was in College (when obviously I still presented male). Many people said I looked like his twin and asked if I was related.
